Poor icedevil though, I always have second thoughts cheering against Djoko because of icedevil..

Thank you, means a lot to me!!! You're amazing. :)

Anyways, I'm not too bothered by the loss. Nole played way too passively and Haas played well. I kind of like Haas, so it's not that bad.

sorry but that's too funny.roflmao

I see he is german, the crowd is in his side n djokovic has no clue about him. So it make sense i think he is wild card player.
But I'm sure n hope he will get good career in the tour, maybe he is only 19-20 years old.

Yeah, it's ben a long time. I could only follow 2-3 matches between AO and RG since you get no ATP tennis on german TV and I didn't have the time to watch anything online. I had to set some priorities and watching tennis lost out this time. ;)

yeah hehe I know what you mean.I only come back for slams nowadays too,but let's say that this year's RG has renewed my tennis interest!:p

So many young posters here. Haas is 31, a former world #2, plagued by injuries his entire career, and obviously still capable of threatening the top players when he is healthy, as exemplified by his 5 setter with Federer at the FO, and this win. I, for one, have always liked his game and think it would be great if he made a deep run at Wimbledon. He is definitely in the twilight of his career.

It is interesting to wonder given his age how much longer Haas will play. Funny to wonder but might he have won the French this year had he won that match with Federer? I think he would have taken out the way overrated Monfils, and I think he would have had a pretty good shot vs the less experienced Soderling in the final. Del Potro in the semis would have been his biggest hurdle.

Yeah, this could become one legendary tennis year.
Federer with a carreer Slam and the chance to get #15 Slam at Wimbledon. Nadal with the pressure to defend his first non RG slam and the chance to get the career slam at USO.
So I'll be rooting for Fed at Wimby and will be rooting for Nadal for the first time at a slam when he plays the USO. ;)
Would be the first year in tennis history where 2 players get the career slam.

It would also be great for 2 players to win the Career Slam in the same year as it would shut up or atleast undercut the Agassi homers who use the Career Slam as some reverential achievement to gloss over the many glaring holes of his career (compared to other even secondary greats).

No problem. Yes, I agree Haas played well and I think his style of play really allows him to play very well even in the age of 31. I think Haas still has quite a few seasons in him and I'm very happy for him (especially after that tough loss at RG).

Djokovic will be fine. I think the RG loss was hard for him, but overall he played a great clay season and I think he'll come back in full force come the HC season. I'm not sure how he will do on grass, but anything can happen.

the first and quite possibly the only year this could happen..But I still don't know about supporting Nadal..hmm maybe if Fed is already out.:p hehe but it will surely be a historic year this one!I can't wait!:)

Haas doesnt look 19-20, more like 31 because that is how old he is!

now now..don't be harsh! You can easily mistake him for 25!

ohhh poor Nole.He speaks german as bad as me!:(

Agassi did many mistakes in the first part of his career and thus wasted the chance to become one of the top 5 player of all time (Sampras had something to do with it, of course). Still a career slam is a great achievement, indeed, regardless how you lookt at it.
I found it fitting that he presented the trophy last sunday.

Well, I can't help but feel good for Haas - it's nice to see him win in front of his own crowd. Injuries were always part of his career, a tournament or two won't hurt before he retires.
I believe he really is the rightful winner the way he was playing.

Now, about Djokovic... He should read his favourite 'The power of now' again and start thinking on court. Seriously, he really was playing like a pusher or a counter puncher at times. His ability is so much more than that, it would be such a waste if he doesn't rethink his game plan...

I'm surprised people never heard of Haas..

He's been in serveral tennis video games...has been number 2 and was a contender prior to injury..

People really should make use of the ATP search function in regards to players

Having Troicki and Melzer in the poll, but not Haas is a big faux pas, indeed.

Maybe they assumed he would "choke" like he did against Fed

I called it :)

Now Haas has won a title on every surface, correct? The Adelaide title he won was on rebound ace?

Even though he's 31, he is really probably 29 in tennis terms since he's been injured for so long it's been about 2 years off the tour, I would think.

Congratulations to Haas...both champions today (Haas/Murray) won on their home turf, so makes it all the better.

This wasnt a good match at all. Haas played poorly and still won because Djokovic gave away the 3rd set even after Haas gave away the 2nd set tiebreaker. Errors galore, terrible serving, players not even moving well on the grass. The real champion lost in the semis IMO.
Yep. I didn't see the first set, but Djokovic played like cr*p. No service to speak of. Blew tons of fh as ue. Ridiculous match. Haas was kinda O.K. Had some very good points and tried hard.

Man,losing 6-1 isn't good,I know Haas can play great when he's on but someting's wrong with Djokovic. Will have to catch a rerun but reading match comments here it seems Novak played to passive, too defensive.

Still he got a few grass wins under his belt so on to Wimbledon, hopefully he does solid there and avoids an early upset like last year.

I only saw the 1st set and up to 6-6 in the 2nd.

Was Djoker injured in the third?

naw, no injury.

It was pretty scrappy to start in the third, tight but not great tennis (the drop in quality during the second set tiebreak carried over), Haas came out on top with the early break, and then after a hold each Tommy managed to turn it on a little to get the double break and close out. The third was tighter than the scoreline suggested, although really I think Tommy should have won the match in 2.

cheers mate.

I'm struggling to get my head round Novak. It's almost like one step forward, 2 steps back. You look at his record this year, and he's gone deep a lot, won a couple of titles, looked REALLY strong at times (pre RG clay stint) -and yet I can't help feel that he's flatlining at best and might be going backwards. I think he's under a fair bit of pressure at Wimbledon - here's hoping he can pick it up again - he's a talented guy. He looks so unhappy on court these days.

Novak's loss to Rafa in Madrid - a bitter pill to swallow that.

He gave his all in that match, on the shoulders of really working to improve his fitness and his reward was a loss. It may take him awhile to recover from it mentally.

Haas was hitting like it was 2002. That was the problem. Haas was blasting the ball everywhere, and making few unforced errors, while also using the net to break Djokovic's rhythm.

Congrats to Haas, but what the hell is that in the final set? 6-1, I think Novak should have at least done a little better.

First three games of the third set were quite close and Novak could have been 3-0 up instead down.
There were several duices in the first on Haas serve, in the second he blundered with the DF on BP and in the third Novak was up 0-40 and than had 4th BP and failed to break going down 3-0.

After that Novak won a game on his serve, but Haas started serving good again and Novak simply gave up.

Thats a pretty good call. I know I haven't recovered. I watched that match on tv and we just hung on to every point. To miss 3 MP and then lose is so bad

Congrat to Haas, but this was just ATP 250. Nadal, federer didn't compete in this tournament.
So if he can make till at least SM in next wimbledon, that's the better achievement n got more point than just 250 :).

I think Novak will be back to form in time for the USO, with at least another hard court title under his belt along the way. Not my pick for winning the USO but definitely high on the list. For Wimbledon, he should at least make QF's.
