when you say "he's got the class," do you mean that his ranking points score is high enough to be able to handle the penalty that w/b assessed in accordance with the rules?

Actually, I meant that if he knew he'd pull out, he'd tell the tournament director and his fans that are waiting for him in Halle, ASAP

Just watched Fed on CNN, sitting down for a chat with Hala Gorani. They must have taped it yesterday, by what they were saying. Fed did not confirm that he's playing Halle, he said that he would have to see how drained he felt and consider whether it would make sense for him to play so soon after the French. So I guess we have to wait and see.

Btw, he said the baby is due in more or less 2 months, so it looks like they planned it perfectly to arrive between Wimby and the USO :).

I'm hoping to see Fed school Novak in a match on grass. I hope the Federer 3-set curse against Novak and Murray will not spread to the grass.

That wasn't limited to Novak and Murray. And he lifted it in Madrid.

Looking forward to watching Jo play Fabrice in a moment, could be a fun match ^_^

First chance to see how Jo looks on grass this year too so I'm excited heh, great first service game for Tsonga

Similarly Santoro had a great first service game of his own, some entertaining tennis already

none yet to my knowledge.

Tsonga/Santoro has been great so far, some great net play, some great passes, and some great rallies. Top quality entertainment!

Tsonga just broke Santoro to take the first set 7-5

Nice match, well done Jo, through in straights 7-5 6-2. Potentially tricky second rounder vs Haas next, that should be a good match.

Nole up next ^^

Okay,Nole and Bolleli coming up.Tsonga seemed in pretty good form against Santoro, solid win for him.

2 BPs actually but he seems to be serving okay so we'll see. He's just finding his rhytm on grass, first match on a new surface is never easy.

Yeah first match is all about adjustment. Djokovic's backhand looks off.

Well....there's a reason this only happens when he plays Murray and Djokovic. It's not like he just makes a gizillion errors and beats himself. These two can throw him off his game. This usually only happens in non-GS matches though which is strange.

I think Murray can throw Federer off his game. When Federer loses to Djokovic he pretty much beats himself, Djokovic is incapable to cause the problems for an in form Federer which Murray can.

SP for Novak

I think you underrate Novak's defense.

Australian Open SF 08, Montreal Finals in 07.

Federer played horrible at the 2008 AO. That example fails bigtime. The Montreal finals is the closest to decent match Federer played and still lost to Djokovic, but Federer blew 5 or 6 set points on his own serve in that final and would have won the match 7-5, 6-2 otherwise. It is funny how that is never brought up yet the 2007 U.S Open first set is, and Federer was more certain to win the Canadian Open match easily (he won the 2nd set very easily) unlike Djokovic in the U.S Open final. I stand by my stance Djokovic has shown nothing that he is really a worry to an in form or confident Federer, atleast nowhere near as much as Murray who is by far a tougher match for Federer than Djokovic will ever be.

Glad you found a way to watch Novak's first match on grass this year, this is a big occasion :).

Ye, big big match here^^ hehe

Pretty small stream size but..BETTER then nothing!

Hes slipping and falling all over the place. Its obvious he hasnt transitioned from clay to grass.

Yeah, his movement is all over the place today,he'll adjust in time I think but it's obvious he moves more naturally on clay and HC.

He finally won the first set,the second should be easier now.

I'll be looking forward to the match where both players are in form and battle it out. To settle debates like these.

Problem is in that he likes to slide on clay and even on HC too, but on slippy grass he obviously fails^^..
