kinda makes me wonder whether the corporation and the tournament organizers knew and just didnt tell anyone because they were afraid ticket sales would drop, or whether federer just didnt tell them. i do wonder because from the first day people on this very thread seemed to have a clue that feder was not going to show up for Halle, but i kept checking, and the website was selling tickets, claiming that federer would play a qualifer in the first round and showing federer in the official draw.

either way, I wonder how many people bought tickets after roger won roland garros on sunday and all day monday in the belief that roger would be playing Halle?:(

Federer probably waited a few days to see how he is on the practice court. I bet if he felt 100% he would play. But he didn't so he decided not to.

Here's a dumb photo of Nole :)

Does anybody know what other events go on at halle apart this tournament?

It amazes me how big and and capable the stadium is for a relatively small event

^^^i dont; this is the first time i've been aware of it ............ channelsurfing.net is showing a link to it, but instead of connecting to the match, it's giving a bunch of choices and i cant find it ..... anybody who has better luck, please report! :)

live scoreboard from a few minutes ago:

currently berdych up a break 3-2
__________

the scoreboard is showing berd only up one break, but score is now 5-2; what did I miss? anyway, zverev now serving to stay in the set after a DF 15-30

There's been some really nice long rallies in this berdych/zverev match...which is kind of bizarre given Zverev was quite happy to serve and volley + get to the net on clay, Berdych is hardly the most patient player either!

Tomas just seems to be more consistently threatening right now, has broken Zverev twice and been broken once

tomas definitely not patient .... and seems to not be very happy with some of the line judging. first set to tomas .... stats kinda fuzzy

looks as tho it's getting brighter ...... are they opening the roof? ahhhh just anwered my own question YES they are opening the roof.

zverev his hit a great winner dtl and tomas hits out 30-40 on his own serve
_____________
zverev breaks 3-1
_________

zverev really cutting thru this set, holds 4-1

tomas complaining about some bad bounces, seems to be mostly going for too much.

Haha playing Simon and Garfunkel during the changeover lol!

Zverevs patience with the Berdych serve has been rewarded, I hope he can continue holding his own so we get a third set ^^

I decided to go for the upset, Zverev in 3, thought it was worth a shot since Zverev has a game that could defintely be effective on grass, and Berdych can be prone to losing matches he shouldn't =p

==

2 great passes from Zverev = bp
Berdych saves

==

Zverev receiving at 5-2 and he's really starting to find some lovely shots

good points. at the moment im not totally sure but i think i remmember looking berdych up on atp website and seeing that he had a better record on grass so that's why i picked him, but if tomas doesn't settle down, the steadiness today of zverev might overcome:)

the live scoreboard isnt very live, seems to be behind, just now showing berdych serving to stay in the set this time 2-5

Wahay Zverev takes the set 6-2 so we get a decider! Berdych needs to step things up or he could be in real trouble since he's making errors from the back of the court and is now being picked off when he comes to the net.

advantage for Mischa serving first as well this set.

Berdych breaks to start the third! It's all change again haha. Ah well, plenty of time for Mischa to try get that back

tomas did whatever and broke to start the third 1 love, but somehow he just doesn't seem comfortable out there. ...... guess he's coming to net more?

somehow, even when he won that first set, tomas seemed to be off with his accuracy. anyway, mischa breaks, then consolidates 2-1 ....... he has hometown advantage, but i'm not sure the crowd is really being very demonstrative.

____________
picture is fuzzy for me. score not totally clear. have they traded breaks here in the third? anyway, berdych to serve 2-3

they seem to be trading breaks, each with 2 now in this set, iow, on serve w/tomas serving 3-4

_____________

all riiiiiight. tomas finds both sidelines to finally hold, first w/serve, then w/the inside out 4 all.
___________

two holds and it's 5 all
_______

what a lob by tomas!
... deuce on mischa's serve

__________
mischa quite talented.
tomas still attacking.
mischa holds 6-5

Phew I had to go out briefly and I come back just in time to see Mischa saving bp's and taking it to 6-5! This is a really tight match

tiebreak! I'm not sure I can handle a tiebreak D:

Berdych saves 3 MPs, 2 on his own serve and one on Zverev's!

and Zverev makes an uncharacteristic error to give Berdych match point on his own serve D:

and this time Zverev saves MP, 7all berdych serving

MP #2 for Berdych, this time on the Zverev serve

and Berdych wastes it, short ball put about a foot wide!

9-8 Zverev, another MP for Mischa, but again on the Berdych serve

Berdych misses the volley as Zverev drops the ball down at his feet, Mischa wins!!

Berdych...47 UE's

Zverev 17 UE's

oh. my. gosh.

the live scoreboard doesn't show that stat.
well, tomas was definitely taking more chances, but he probably felt that he had to. mischa seemed mostly camped on the baseline, and he just kept improving. berdych had his chances in the third, but just one too many UEs.

Tsonga came back from 0-40 firing aces left and right, 2 or 3 of them on second serve at more than 200 Km/h. It's a way to do it, I suppose. 4-3* for Tsonga in the 2nd set.

Matches like this one are the reason they slowed down the grass. It is either that or take power off the racquets. Total servefest, most points are aces or unreturnables.

and haas won.

Grass isn't tsonga's best surface but I hope he can go deep in wimby.
very good results from Tommy lately!:D Bravo!

Well he's only played Wimbledon once. Actually it's hard to say what his best surface is as of now. But when he burst onto the scene, he did his most damage on grass.

Where can I watch these matches, either Halle or Queens. Thanks

both atdhe.net and channelsurfing.net have links, but some of them don't seem to kick in right when you think they should. for instance, this morning i was trying to find the berdych match at halle and all i got was a useless choice of multiple shows, none of which was tennis. later, someone on the thread posted a link and i was able to watch the rest. one good reason to check in here periodically! :)
