Hamad "Jedi" Medjedovic, a Force to be reckoned with

A comfortable 3 matches in qualification from our boy - beat Pouille 6:3, 7:5, Krajinovic 7:5, 7:6 (2) and today Blancaneaux 6:2, 6:2. The match against Krajinovic was a tough one, where Hamad had to save few set points in second set.

I expect him to enter top 100 soon and enter Grand Slams without qualifications. He's too good now for Challengers and GS qualies.

And he got through hostile crowd playing Pouille ... good test. Hope he becomes just as battle-hardened as King Nole himself.

I'm curious how 'Hame' 'Jedi' Medjedovic will perform today. His last match in Rome against Medvedev was promising. Cobolli made the SF in Geneva and is > 50 places higher in the ranking so it will be a real test

Medjedovic failed rather miserably : Cobolli was way too steady and on clay Medjedovic dit not construct the points and made lots of UFE, more than his match against Medvedev.

Get ready 2025, this will be Hame's breakthrough year. It already is.

He will be world number 85 at the end of this week, and he can only get higher if he continues to play like this. It looks like he's maturing.

I'm calling it, Hame will be top 10 player. Might even enter a Grand slam final, might even win it.

I hope you are right. I still have doubts. Kachanov did not play well. Too early to call for me. His movement is still a bit suspect. His power and hand eye coordination is top notch.

Lol

I have not seen him at all outside of next gen finals. But he is not getting into top 10 at least this year. Not even top 30.

Next gen finals which he played and won were at the end of the 2023. Bold move from you to say your predictions about his career, without watching him for almost year and a half.

He will be top 10 player, not this year, but in the future yes.

Yes because if he was going to make it he would have last year.

No one calls him Jedi.

Fun player to watch though. Dropping a pound or ten would help his movement/defense.

Haha, yes, it's a bit awkward because it's the middle of his name.

Still waiting to see what he can do on a consistent basis.

Maybe if he bothers to get rid of his beer belly.

He is built very sturdy, Stan like. He can hit anyone off the court. But his game needs to have stability as well.
Exactly my thoughts. He is not fat, he has Stan the Man build. Very strong core, thus powerful strokes and serve, but he has better touch than Wawrinka - better drop shots, volleys, overall net game.

I enjoy watching him play.

Yes, he is like a rough diamond. But if and when the polishing (movement, endurance, mental-side) will happen ?

Stanimal was ripped (as plenty of shirtless photos show). This guy not so much...

If he ever gets to Stan's mental toughness level, he'll win a grand slam title for sure lol. Stan was mentally a beast in his prime. Will that happen, I don't know, doubt it, not that Hamad is weak in that aspect, on contrary, but that is high level. Again, I think he has "head" for top 10. Endurance and movement can be something you can work on and get better.

And you have seen photos of shritless Hamad?

The point of my post was he has that build, strong core, big obliques. The body fat percentage is also something you can work on. Again, the guy is not fat, he just has that kind of upper body. Stan looked fat wearing shirts, and then you see him shirtless and realize he has huge obliques. Hamad's probably the same.

New ATP 250 final for Hame, after Belgrade Open. Destroyed Medvedev 6:3, 6:2. Time for the first title.

A short while ago, when discussing how many of the NextGen champions had apparently disappeared after winning that title, I asked if anyone had heard from Medjedovic lately? Well, I guess he must have been listening because, all of a sudden, he's come roaring back onto the tennis scene and is now making big waves on the main tour. How far can he go?

Well, for 2025 I guess top50 year-end,GS main draw win,and why not-250 title.
2/3 would be great also.

Man, if it's about standing ( in this case today - precisely that, because he could,'t run!) your ground and power then he's got a good chance to do well. This win stands on its own for a number of reasons - the 'feel good' factor of beating a higher ranked / more experienced player is likely to add to the impetus. Well done to HM.

I don't want to be a party-pooper, but I do have some reservations about MedJed's movement (rather heavy feet, IME). Wishing the guy well..

What a win by Hamad. He injured himself in the third set, 4:5 for Medjedovic, Stefanos' serve, 15:0. He strained his right hamstring, yet he continued playing literally with one leg, held his serve, and in the tie break went all in and won it. I am 100% he'll withdraw tomorrow as he was barely walking, but this win is huge for the future against former multiple Grand Slam finalist and it'll get him new career high rank, about #68.

He's very talented and has great touch. Mixed with his power FH and serve, it is a great combination. I agree with @Vincent-C, he has naturally "heavy feet", but if he works hard, he can get to a high level in department of movement and can be a threat for the top.

How far he can go? For highest career achievements, I say at least one Masters 1000 title, a Grand Slam final and career high #4.

My only concern in the moment is the injury. It looked like a pretty good strain. Continuing to play could have also worsen it. He'll be limping tomorrow too, no doubt about it, but I hope it's not a deep tear in the end so he can continue to play and prolong this good form in the Indian Wells and Miami, and after that the clay season too.

Mentality wise i also have my doubts. He is a fierce competitor but when he gets angry / mad(jedovic) starts playing worse, not better, like um you know who.
Mind control, one of the biggest challenges in professional tennis is necessary

Is there anyone who plays better once they lose control of their emotions and get angry? The trick is not to get angry if you want to keep playing well. On the other hand there are some players who get angry, play bad for a short period while angry, calm down and then having released their safety valve of pent-up fury slowly start playing better.
