Hand Pain

Hey guys yesterday I started started having bad hand pain in my dominant hand, almost to the point of not being able to hold a racket. The pain first started while hitting forehands and got worse real quick. The pain is along my index finger to just above the wrist and most of the pain seems to be centered an inch from my index knuckle and also hurts when I make a fist. Has anyone else had this? Also does anyone know what I should do about this?

Check if your grip size is too small for your hands. There are many references showing you how to do it. Normally, you would hold your racket as you would and there should be enough space for your index finger to fit between your four fingers and thumb.

I had a serious pain when I used a grip too small for couple of hours. It went away as soon as I started using the right size.

If it's not the grip size, your stroke may cause the problem. Make sure you don't strain your muscles when hitting the ball.

I've been using the same racket and grip size for the past year and a half though, don't get why it would just start hurting now. A few weeks ago my index finger got pushed back pretty hard, don't know if that has anything to do with it since it happened a week ago but maybe that could have contributed.
