Happy New Year, I still haven't thought about a new years resolution yet, maybe reach the 5.0 level, lol

Yeah I’m the same, no resolutions yet, but looking to step up my game in 2011. Maybe qualify for USO 2011. I read on Former Pro that ATP is like in the weakest era ever full of pushers and chokers, so it could be a good time to snatch some easy cash playing ATP.

I decided to approach this thread cautiously, and make sure 2011 was here to stay before wishing everyone a good year. At this point, I feel safe doing so. Enjoy!

Hey, year of the rabbit!! A neighbor who worked in China for 10 years is hosting a celebration at a very good Chinese restaurant in the area next week, orders from the non-gringo menu they keep behind the counter for their own countrymen.

That sounds awful, but my email situation is even worse - I don't see an inbox in my email, I am not even sure I have one anymore.

I don't think I received that - the last piece of correspondence in my files is from daisuke, message ending in "focus on".

Just received a 12:05 duplicate of the 11:17 message, with a somewhat different sender stamp. I don't mean to point fingers, but I am guessing the SB06 account is fine, and the problem is on the sender's end (with the ipods smartphones?, itones??, full poly???). Please confirm that the sent was indeed sent and resend if necessary.

OK I got the 12:10 and I understand everything (in the universe [and beyond]). To be clear, I have not received any files.

Please enjoy until your heart's content for mine will rest solemnly tonight dreaming of dim sum, waiting for the weekend.

Receipt duly acknowledged. Please be sensitive mentioning dimsum to uptown ppl, we don’t get any on a regular basis. Where is this going on anyway – the subcanadian arctics of bliss or supramexican tropics of death and regret?

I am not so crazy about noodles, because I can come up with delicious garlic mushroom pesto tagliolini in my sleep. I am not familiar with this particular drug/prostitution/gambling house, but if you are saying that they have superior fish skins, then you have my attention.

hello CEO,

This is not my personal blog at all, in fact it is anything but. This is a place for people to wish each other a happy 2011 and those who are in fact enjoying a happy 2011. It also provides an opportunity to bitter individuals having a bad 2011 to express their misery by rating the thread one-star.

Verm is the boss when it comes to food, at least Italian food. I am not sure if he has a solid understanding of the dimsum though.

Happy ID to you too! I find these confusing, but this mid-summer one is not the one with the turkey, right? So what then, you just drink scotch out of the bottle, or what’s the right way to celebrate? Thank you.

Happy New Year to you too. Why don’t people do happy quarters, can you explain that to me? Why not celebrate the start of the 3rd quarter of 2011? Happy 3rd quarter everyone!

This has been a **** 3rd quater of the year 2011 for me. My work are screwing with my education! Sorry just had to go on a rant on the internet to vent my frustrations.....

It's OK, you are generally allowed to rant on this forum, unless you are a K street intern bot. I have a question about your statement - you do realise that the third calendar quarter of 2011 has started today (July 1)? Might this be a tad early for a full-fledged assessment of your accomplishments in this current quarter?

OK let me just educate you a little bit here, before you sink into complete darkness and despair. The Earth is actually round and rotates around the Sun a little bit, so the current date may vary up to one (1) day, depending on your time zone. So I was not wrong, yet am willing to stipulate that the date in your location may have been July 2 as of the time of your last post. It still doesn’t explain why you would jump to conclude that your 3Q 2011 is a failure as early as the second day of the period, but your behavior here does provide some support for your early 3Q forecast.

Oh god. It was a joke. Lighten up man.

Besides, if you want to educate me, at least educate me in something I'm learning; I'm learning how to use commands such 'IP config' 'Ping' 'NSlookup' 'Tracert' and 'Netstat'. I understand the steps/methods to troubleshoot a wireless/wired network from the OSI model but some of these commands I don't follow. And this was not meant to be clever at all.

Can you educate me on this please?

If you attempted to make a joke, you’ll need to explain what the joke was and why it was supposed to be funny. So we can all laugh along!

The seemingly uncontrollable flow of IT jargon does further support your claim of 3Q despair, and I might be willing to entertain this tangent, subject to connection. Kindly explain what this IT jargon has to do with happy 2011 wishes that remain the primary focus of this thread?

It wasn't meant to be a joke. You talked about educating me. I asked you (since you seem to be all-knowing) a problem about some network troubleshooting commands because that's the topic I'm currently studying at the moment so it's actually of use. Actually this topic does intertwine with my original rant.

Were you lying then?

Or are you lying now?

Either way, this isn't looking good for you, to be honest.

1) I was joking about the 'it's the 2nd over in my country according to Vista'.

Definately not lying about the Network troubleshooting. Why the hell would I lie about not knowing something? To make myself look clever??????????? (Last question was rhetorical and sarcastic).

You haven’t answered my question. Also, your mastery of grammar and punctuation, as demonstrated thus far, falls short of the standards implicit in my thread discussions. I am far from suggesting that you stop posting in this thread, but merely inviting you to consider the idea that your intellectual effort may potentially be more fruitful and even more highly appreciated in other threads (and/or forums and/or other communication media). This was a pleasure, I hope you enjoy the rest of your..

I am not an IT specialist but do have a working knowledge of the English language.

The words or phrases highlighted in the copy of your message below do not see to be correct and proper words in the English language. As such it makes sense that any intelligent and scalable system would not recognise these words or commands.

As such we have two options here, and I will highlight the one that seems appropriate in this case -

I would suggest that the system within which such non-English language commands are meant to operate, be adjusted and amended to enable the use of correct and proper words from the English language.

Once you have done this, then such commands, being stated in English, would have a clear indication of what they are meant to achieve. At that stage if you have any questions, then you may consult a reputable dictionary to find out the meaning of the words. There are several on line dictionaries or you may wish to purchase a physical book. I find there is some level of comfort and security and dare I say it, permanence, in referring to books rather than the interweb.

Upon completing the above necessary changes, I would think your Q3 will improve rapidly. By the end of the year you will be in a state of contentment, and at that stage you could legitimately wish others a Happy 2012.

But you would need to wait for a new thread to be created for that.

Happy Q3 2011 to you.

You haven’t answered my question.

Just for the sake of it I'm gonna answer the question you posed to me.......

I frikkin know about time zones and am not a part of the flat earth society. By the way I actually forgot momentarily we were in July. No need to panic. There are 3 months for every 1/4 of a year. I get that. We are currently in the 3rd quater because we are in July which is month 7. 3+3 = 6 so we are not in the first half of the year. get real. I'm not an idiot.

Are you sh!tting me!!!! These are real commands and they are used to troubleshoot networks. If you're running a Windows based OS then type in CMD in your start menu.

ipconfig - displays information about IP configuration - IP address/subnet Mask/ default gateway.

This command used in the command prompt is used to determine if the correct IP configuration has been assigned to a particular host - because every host on a network needs proper Internet Protocol addressing to participate on teh network.

Ip/config/release - releases bindings and can refresh your configuration settings.

Ipcongif/renew - asks DHCP server for new IP configuration/ DHCP sends back if your IP information was recieved dynamically.

Anyone with not much knowledge of networking would know this.

Netstat - used for TCP connection identification; Troubleshooters normally use this to actually detect hackers/someone else using the network if a host isn't working as it should be.

Ping - this tests connection between source (sender) and destination (reciever) and states how many hops a packet takes. A hop is how many routers it takes to get to the destination.

Some of the other commands for example NSlookup I'm not too familiar with. I'm actually on this Cisco website trying to revise and argue at the same time.

When are you planning on doing that – some time in this calendar quarter?

I frikkin know about time zones and am not a part of the flat earth society.
Duly noted.

By the way I actually forgot momentarily we were in July.
What month did you think we were in? Or did you think we were not in a month at all?

No need to panic.
Convince me.

Your arithmetic and understanding of units of time are impressive.

get real.
What do you mean?

I'm not an idiot.
I’ll withhold judgment on that one for the time being.

Hello, sorry for late reply. I was at Time square, China Town, and World trade center including outside of the court house for the whole day. I don't think I am able to make it for tonight's firework. I am so tired. Well, I have one more day here though. I will be in Hobokin tomorrow. Just emailed me or call me if you and your boss want to join me for a couple of drink and talk about non-sense topics (check your email). Maybe take a nice walk along the riverside in the late afternoon.

As for the July 4, it's a national holiday where I am able to take one day off the work. Mostly, family gatherings for BBQ is what American do on this day.

I went by the market in East Village to buy a substantial piece of raw tuna to celebrate the barbeque. I cut it up, drowned it in soy sauce, and watched the fireworks from my high window. With some nice very cold vodka gimlets and the meiko kaji cd.

Yay! Tuna is my favorite. I like very strong Wahhabi paste with light soy sauce. Yes, I grew up with Japanese food. Sounds like you like KILL BILL series though. I prefer the firework at Washington on TV two nights ago.

Another profession for me might be bartender. I love wine tasting.

I thought KB I was a really high quality film, definitely a fan. I love wine tasting too, sometimes I spend entire afternoons at Acker Merrall Condit on 72nd and then walk over to the river park to talk to people about the issues and sleep it off etc.

Oscar-winning filmmaker, Quentin Tarantino is always one of my favorite directors. I also like Uma Thurman. She is such an elegant actress not to mention her professional acting skills.

I am still learning about NYC. How long have you been living there?
