Harriet Dart apologizes after requesting opponent wears deodorant: ‘She smells really bad’
Courtside microphones picked up Dart's complaint over her opponent's personal hygiene during a changeover in the second set.
Well they’re playing in Rouen- maybe her opponent had a ripe chunk of Époisses or Chaumes in her racquet bag. Yum
Or maybe she deliberately didn't have a shower and decided to wear her old dirty clothes that day to make Dart feel nauseous during the match.Well they’re playing in Rouen- maybe her opponent had a ripe chunk of Époisses or Chaumes in her racquet bag. Yum
Old dirty sweaty tennis clothes can be so stinky you can smell it from across the court, especially if you're playing against the wind. And you walk past your opponent very closely during a changeover.Weird. I thought tennis was different from wrestling in that way that there's usually 20m in between the players.
Hate to say it but I agree with Nick. It's poor sportsmanship. She resorted to demeaning her opponent because she had no answer for her on the court. I'm glad this blew up in the media as athletes should be called out for poor behaviour.Cracks me up that so many media outlets have a story about this, it is barely anything. She apologized and apparently her opponent even made a joke about it so clearly no ill-will.
She does not look weird. But yes, she has a bad attitude.Harriet Dart is a weird-looking lady. Coupled with her bad attitude, she'll never land a good man!

I would prefer to have stinky armpits than to have stinky tennis.
Hmm..is there a british french angle to it i.e the French players have a different culture and dont follow the standards of Brits
Hehe... Way back, I've heard a joke from a Brit, it involved a contest - how long you can stay in a cave with a smelly goat...Hmm..is there a british french angle to it i.e the French players have a different culture and dont follow the standards of Brits
We can’t opine anything about this matter as body odors can’t be broadcast.
This is a waste of time.
When's her next match? I really hope it's in France and the crowd turn up carrying stinky cheeses and garlic round their necks!
Nah, men don't make a fuss about body smell because everyone farts.this is something I could see Zverev doing.
I agree with you that it’s definitely hard to catch any scent from opponents during baseline rallies or even quick net exchanges.Have never been able to smell a singles opponent from across the net; there is just too much separation. So not clear what this malcontent Harriet is whining about.
Harriet obviously sniffed her for 2 seconds while changing ends. Big deal. A bad smell for a moment. It has no bearing on the rallies.
Furthermore, there is nothing that a chair umpire can do. The umpire cannot force anyone to wear deoderant.
Her opponent Lois joked about thisYou mean the French shop for tennis balls whilst the Brits hunt for deodorant?![]()
Ask if hes frenchHell, I'm in a public bus and the guy next to me is using a deodorant or perfume that smells so strongly bad. Or maybe the deodorant is mixed with his 3 days of no showering / bathing body odour. I think I'm gonna vomit.
Yeah. lol. Can see a pretty cool sponsorship coming her/their way(s).Harriet and Lois can star in a deodorant commercial.
