Lloyd Harris - Put some respect to the name.
  • Thrashed Shapo in STRAIGHT SETS.
  • Beat Opelka in 4 sets:
    • Sets 2, 3 and 4 - were the HIGHEST TENNIS level in the UsOpen 2021.
    • Harris hit 62 Winners, 36 aces and only 16 Unforced Errors!
    • No one - not even Novak - could produce such a performance against a Servebot and a competent offensive volleyer that Opelka is.
Zverev OTOH was scratchy against Sinner and was lucky NOT to lose set 3. He also could have lost to Jack Sock - had Sock not been injured.

If Harris plays Zverev - the way he played against Opelka - the German may soon be going home. As it is, in closer matches in slams Zverev typically underperforms and loses.
This one could be similar to Zverev- FAA in Wimbledon.

I predict Llyod Harris in 4 or 5 sets to beat Zverev. What does TTW think?

I have Zverev has the fav here, but seriously would not be surprised if Harris wins this match.
Harris was scary vs Shapo and especially vs Opelka. Highest level of UsOpen vs Opelka.
If Harris plays like that, Zverev won't even get a set.

Two very nice extremes.

I think we will get something in the middle.
There’s no way Zverev will miss this opportunity to potentially play djoko in the semis. Goldie and chainz man knows he’d love to be the man to deny Djokovic the calendar slam. His form is too good to be stopped by Harris in my opinion.

I think he wins, but I don't think his form is that good. Serving yes, overall form, no. He is lucky Sinner screwed up a lot in their match, especially on set point and even Sock was blasting him off the court in the start of their match.

He is good, but he needs to be a lot better. His serve alone will not save him should he and Djokovic play that semi.

I hope your right man. If Djokovic-Zverev happens I don’t know what will happen. As both players have been inconsistent at times in their matches and looked brilliant in others. I’m hoping Novak raises his level tonight.

Conveniently ignoring that Zverev just beat him in Cincy... 7-6 6-2.

Zverev did not face a single breakpoint in that match. If Zverev serves well, Harris has absolutely no chance.

Watched Shapo and Opelka match, he literally crushed Opelka after first set. Shapo didn't play well, but that in no way degrades Harris success.I hope this will be good match, going into best of 5, not destroyee by some injury

Against Sinner his BH was great the whole match, but the FH (especially down the line) was bad, lot of UEs especially the first two sets. Against Djokovic his game will need to be flawless

How is his form good? Zed was losing badly against Sock. Would have lost had Sock not been injured.
Sinner choked like a little girl in set 3 on SPs - missed sitters even you and I would have made.
To me, Zed has looked very unconvincing this UsOpen. Yes, he comes with a winning streak - but his level has been crap. Also we know he is a MENTAL MIDGET when the going gets tough.

The Harris in that match was different from the Harris in the UsOpen.
This is a watershed moment for Harris. A coming of age tournament.
He is playing the tennis of his life. The results of Cincy have little to no bearing.

I'll be honest with you. I've NOT been impressed by Zed or Med in this tournament.
Seriously speaking if Novak play his B game - he could handle them both. And what a way for CYGS - by beating both of these overrated next gen

On another note: Did you see Delpo's ESPN interview? It was very revealing. Delpo said he REGRETS not being fit to play. He said the next gen are GOOD and POWERFUL. He said the Next gen are AGGRESSIVE but they don't play SMART tennis. HE said they make too many errors. He said Next Gen needs to have more SHOT TOLERANCE be able to play shrewdly. Per Delpo Novak wins because he can wary his Game plan, play smartly and hang in there. Delpo says Next gen have no Plan B and that is why Novak always wins. He wished he could still play, as he would have liked his chances to cause damage.

He will beat Harris though that’s my point. I still think Djokovic v Zverev will happen with Meddy waiting in the final for the winner.

All of Harris' false dawns were exposed during his Washington match vs Nishikori (the one after he beat Nadal). Returning his serve is the key, which Shapopalov and Opelka were incapable of. Zverev is a much better returner. If he can engage rallies, he will win most of them. In Cincinnati Harris only held with his serve in the 1st set, but then Zverev broke his serve twice. Harris is a great player but still not top-10 material. He can take 1 set and maybe another set goes to tie-break, but not more. If he wins, it will be because Zverev choked.

I admit thougg, Zverev's last match was unconvincing. Sinner should have broken back in the 2nd set and won the 3rd set.

You may be right. But keep in mind, it could also be
Djokovic vs Harris SF
Djokovic vs FAA final.

Med and Zed are playing CRAP IMO. I knew Zed is always suspect mentally. But I've been really disappointed with Mad lad. I mean compare to UsOpen 2019 - he's worse and more defensive compared to that.
Remember when he beat Novak in Cincy 2019 etc - he used to FIRE big DTL backhand/forehands and 2nd serve aces. Now he's just super passive. He will NEVER win a slam with that game. A poor man's Murray without the speed and tactical brain.

DId you actually watch Harris vs Opelka?
The level of tennis Harris displayed in that match was LEGIT top 3 tennis. Highest level of the tournament.

Harris has a very high top gear, which could lead to an upset. He played extremely well against Opelka and Shapo. And that was the 2nd time that he beat Shapo this year.

Harris is simply lacking the consistency to be a top-10 guy, mainly because he didn't become a full-time tennis player until he was 16.

If Harris brings his A-game, then he could win and it wouldn't surprise me one bit. However, he's been very inconsistent this year, which is why I'm picking Zverev to win in 5 tough sets.

All the people complaining about zverev antics and here he is helping the ball boys dry the court. Harris decided to throw 2 water bottles all over the court.

How did Harris choke serving for the first set? Zverev looks unbeatable. Even if he's not, he's gonna have fresher legs being 10 years younger and 2-3 hours less on court time, barring today's Berry match
