Connors but he dominated a lot more than Agassi did, finishing years end 5x compared to 1x and finishing in the top 4 12x years in a row and Top 10 15x in a row. Agassi was very spasmodic, he had "blue patches" over long period. If you drop Fed and Nadal then Sampras was very close, he might have beaten Federer but I don't know and Fed was not the greatest for first 4 professional years, except he was more dominant more than Agassi over a longer time having finished No.1 6x in a row compared to 1x.
Lendl played late 70's against some of the greatest names in there peak such as Borg, he did have the longevity of Agassi but played a higher level longer being in the top ten from 1980-1992.
Agassi and Connor where both able to play a long time where as most greats peaked and when declining retired. Agassi was lucky in that he managed 8 GS where as he rarely dominated a period, either playing second fiddle a few years to Sampras or worse, you could say he was opportunistic winning when Sampras declined and retired and before Federer developed and later Nadal.

I read a story in which he played a young Lendl in a practice set. It was I think around 1980 and I understand the rallies were fantastic. I guess Rosewall was about 45 or 46 and Lendl about 20. I think Lendl won 6-4. This is from memory so I hope I'm right.

Hendrix is exactly like Hoad.

A very short prime ( and a tragical " injury") but his peak play may have been the best of all.

Hendrix played from his stomach
Page from his soul

the 80 US Presidentials primaries must have been the toughest tourney ever.

Think a bit:

Reagan vs Dole and Bush
Carter vs Mondale and Ted Kennedy

then
Reagan vs Carter vs Anderson

BTW, it looks far more impressive than Fat *** Merkel beating deep and hard that colection of SPD journeymen over the last 5 years, including Steinbruck,Muntefering and Stenmeier.

(BTW, SPD is the "S" party: Schmidt,Schroeder,Steinbruck,Stenmeier and, of course, Schumacher, the man of Bad Godesberg):-?
