The sad reality is manufacturers make light stiff racquets because they are easier to use and sell. The market segment that wants relatively heavy, flexible racquets like the DR 98 is relatively small. My question is: everyone wants them to go back to DR, and Yonex is also trying to work towards that. Why then, doesn't Yonex just make the DR and call it whatever they want. Apple essentially releases the same product year after year with a different number and people still buy them. If Yonex knows exactly what they're customers want, why not just make that?
The 285 gram models with 20 grams added will not play the same as the 305 models. Even if you match the balance the weight distribution in the head is different. Close but not the same.So is DR 98 LG the same racquet as a regular DR except the weight? I lead up one to 340g and it is a more comfortable and solid racquet than the 2020 ez98 I demoed. I am going to skip the 2020 ezones for good. Yonex killed the 95D and now they refuse to make anything close to a DR 98. Two local shops I went to has reported nearly no sale on the 2020 model.
They're coming out with an ezone 98 tour that's supposed to be closer to the DRs.
the new ezone 100 + is 1 darn good Yonex offer..
if you like a extended frame that pounds the ball with mad spin ..then the 100+ is the ticket.. more feel and control than any babolat offer...
I normally use a 4 1/4.. but got a 4 3/8 this time...
I am on the fence between the plus in a 4 1/4, the standard and the ultra 100 v3...
I play great with all 3...
TW review is spot on...
I have been playing for a few years now and always tinkering. Instead of trying to find a racket that helps my weaknesses, I am trying to find the best racket to go with my strengths: serve and aggressive play. (Will keep practicing to help any weakness.)2020 ezone 98 supposed to be quite similar to DR line. Plays good stock but even better if you tinker around with the weight to your specs. I extended mine 1/4 inch and i get delpo type leverage on shots. My only gripe is that the thicker beam/wider head is not as maneuverable as my VCP100 that are also extended 1/4 inch. Both racquets play great... vcp much better control but much less power/comfort. Never gelled with the vcp97 cuz sweetspot felt too small for me. I’m a lifer w yonex...such great quality control and feel on their racquets. I truly believe isometric technology works.

Long time DR user before, now switched to new yonex 98 2020. I like it, its a bit firmer than DR and has a larger sweetspot. And guys say im hitting much harder now...
Awsome racquet. Have 3 already
