Has Medvedev USO win decreased the historical importance of Zverev Tokyo OGM?

Did Medvedev spoil Zverev party?

Zverev has been The Mighty One for a few weeks.
Now it's different.
Medvedev is hailed as The Man Who Stopped Djokovic.

Did Medvedev spoil Zverev party?
What do you think?

Zverev stopped Djokovic in the semis of the Olympics (for the 3rd time in Djokovic's career) thus preventing him from winning the Golden CYGS like Graf did back in 1988. Medvedev completed the humiliation by preventing Djokovic from even achieving the CYGS which Laver did back in 1969. No doubt most fans would see that as the more important hindrance.

Either way, both players have acted as The Big Novak Stoppers this season. It remains to be seen where and when the enraged world #1 will seek his revenge against them.

Zverev destroyed Djokovic's hope for a Golden Slam.
Medvedev destroyed Djokovic's hope for a Grand Slam.

Golden Slam > Grand Slam

Even the average TTW poster should understand this.

Zverevs 5-setter with Djoker 2 days prior had ZERO influence on Meddy & his BRAINS to put Djoker down in the final.

It's like in soccer where all we remember is whom scored the goal & totally forget about all of the build up play that resulted in said finish of a goal.

But does an average poster understand that:
- Zverev was unable to stop Grand Slam, and
- Medvedev stopped both Golden Slam and Grand Slam
?

Zverev OG is massive for him. His confidence has skybrocketed. He went 5 sets v Djokovic in the best match of the year in NY. Djokovic was playing that day like the grestest hard court player of all time yet Zverev was right with him.
People troll Zverev but ill call it now. This time next year he will be ahead of Medvedev in slams.

There's nothing "historically important" about an OGM in tennis. It's only been in existence for 33 years, a mere grain of sand in a vast desert of tennis history. The only people in the world who give one damn about Zverev winning an OGG are pictured below. The rest of the world either doesn't know or doesn't care.

I feel like Zverev got more hype than Medv but Medv achieved more. People decided that "oh well, olympics are not important let's see if he wins and there will be no longer a goat debate".
Im cynical but Medv doesn't have Zverev's looks and is also more nerdy and less "American" bubbly-type.

That's a bit of an exaggeration....

The OGM is gravy, it's not a Slam. But it's a nice looking trophy to have in your chest, and your country is highly invested in your bringing home the gold. If that wasn't the case, Novak wouldn't have played this year, and Roger wouldn't have said he wanted to play until at least Tokyo 2021.

I always try and come up with ridiculous threads, but these kind of things... are even more absurd than mine, and i try as hard as i can... has it decreassed the historical importance? Well how could it? When you see the list of tennis olympic golden medals, his name will be there like everybody else who won it, doesnt matter if med won uso, doesnt matter that djokovic almost got YCGS, they are separate things

Djokovic knows.
He will remember this Olympic final as long as he lives.
Because on that day everything began to unravel.

Djokovic looked invincible until Z blew him away at the OG. Then PCB took up the mantle and both inspired Medvedev. Z then wore Djokovic down in the USO semi. Team effort

As a Golden Slam always includes a Grand Slam, it's a bit hard to say the Golden Slam is not greater than a Grand Slam.
