Has Nadal proved he is the best of his era?

Fed is definitely not GOAT, he is owned by his chief rival...

Funny how people still want to call him GOAT. I said it at least 5 years ago. If Nadal kept up winning majors and has a better h2h against Fed, then Fed cannot be GOAT. Its a fact. How anyone can say he is GOAT with Nadal owning him is ludicrous x100. Is he the most accomplished... yes, most major...yes and is he owned by his chief rival...yes. I. Order to be GOAT you can't have such a large chink in the armor. There is no GOAT. I used to think Pete was, but its too hard to ignore his lack of a French. But he is best player of his era and Fed is not. That is a fact and Fed fans simply cannot handle the truth.

Three stars...that's the true issue in this thread. Must be the Fed fans giving less than top notch rating. Because the truly logical posters on here have pretty much surmised Nadal is best of era. Although, if Murray now starts to win more majors we could talk about how he is reason Novak is not best in his era...that's a joke.

It is not a fact, it is merely your opinion (and one that many people disagree with).

Greatness in tennis is measured by accomplishments. Nadal had the edge on Federer in their head to head which prevented Federer from being even greater than he was, but he still accomplished a ton. Labeling a different opinion as ludicrous shows that you are incapable of accepting a different opinion and not worth any more of my time.

It is a fact. People (Freddie fans) can't accept it. I also think many more agree with me...see this thread. Can't be greatest if someone else out duels you in h2h. If Agassi had a better h2h (say even just one win more) and all things still same...you know fed fans would be all over that stink on rat crap. They would use exact argument. In fact, they tried with Richard K many, many times. Yet they played a handful of times. Not enough for a true rival and Richard only had one major, never #1 and never dominant. Yet...they still try to use him. If you know thi and you still want to argue...then yes, this is not worth your time. You can do something more productive.

Numbers is not the only reason majority of Fed fans like him...Federer was the greatest player of his generation and has a game that is very entertaining to watch...In the end there is no goat because it is impossible to compare eras.

Before you jump on me...I have been saying this since 2012 when Federer regained #1 and everyone was on his bandwagon for goat etc...Including McEnroe.

"When I look at Federer, with what he's accomplished, against the competition that he's accomplished it with, I'd have to say I would think that Roger is the greatest player,'' said the Aussie."

He also added you can only be the best of your era and different era's cannot be compared. Totally agree with this...

"I've always said if you're the best in your era, that's as good as you really can do. You could take it back to 'Is it Fred Perry, is it Don Budge, is it myself that came along?'" added Laver.

Federer has also made similar remarks several times.

"No I don't feel like the greatest."

"I don't feel like I'm better than anyone."

"We needed all the legends in the game to pave the way for this generation and inspired this generation to chase the big records. Back in the day they weren't doing that. they were just playing to play tennis. Things have changed dramatically with the press coming in and reminding us 'You should do this', 'You have to win that', then you will be considered the greatest of all time."

I anyways don't think you can compare different eras in tennis."

Oh...what is a fact by the way? There is no GOAT. It cannot be confirmed as fact. Since it cannot be confirmed, it is a FACT Fed is not GOAT. No one denies his resume...I certainly don't. I love his game and think he would have been awesome in the 80-90's with his ability to play all court game. With surface speeds so different and so many different players of various strengths, would Hansen fun to watch that guy play. But alas he played in a boring, baseline basher era. Ironically, fed is my favorite player by far. I only wear Nike clothes/shoes and use Wilson tour 90 racquets (ala Roger). But, I'm not blind and silly in love like a school girl with One Direction or Justin Bieber. That is the mentality of too many fedfans and it irks me to be part of that group.

I'm not blind. The guy has flaws like every player. He also has a major flaw that has been discussed by people in tennis that actually know and played the game. They know there is no true greatest ever. There can't be. String technology, graphite/flex changes in the 80's. Too much change. However, take guys from 40's to 60's for instance. I don't believe technology and surfaces changed at all. That era of tennis could be easily argued for a GOAT (Probably Laver). But string and court speeds changed too much. Roger would have been a far different player (like 01-03) if he played in 80-90's. There is no GOAT Mr. D and all the other Fed Fanatics..get over that and you will find peace.

No matter how many times you say it, it is still not a fact. As you are someone who cannot accept a different opinion and continue to prove that over and over, you go on my ignore list. The time it takes to read your worthless posts is time I will never be able to get back.

Yeah and that's exactly what I'm saying...Majority of fed fans don't think he is the GOAT...They will argue mostly about him being the best of his generation and that's it...Of course his game has flaws but who doesn't...

If you look closely, it is Nadal fans and fans of players from previous era's that keep creating GOAT threads and kick Federer now that he is down and close to retirement.

Thanks for the post. I will read those links shortly. Heck yea, I understand what you are saying. There is too much debate and comparing era is far more difficult now than years ago (see my post above). I mentioned quite a few times that its hard to compare players/teams/athletes from different era's. Especially 20 or more years ago. Except baseball. The bat is still wood, the ball is still cork and leather and for the most part the game is not a whole lot different than 50 years ago (hockey too when you look at the foundations of those sports). Its easier to compare ted Williams and George Brett to ichiro. Its a given babe Ruth would bea great hitter in ttoday's game. Pitchers were throwing mid to high 90's back then as well. But tennis has changed too much. I personally can't get over the h2h. If this happened to Pete with his main rival...the argument would be same.

Lol..if your time was that valuable, by all means never read/respond to me again. Thanks for doing me the favor. Sorry you weren't able to defend your boy.

Its always the same posters and newbie kiddies. I'm not going to argue he has the best resume of any player in history...he has the best resume in fact. But, you are right. Its easier to talk down on him now. Once he retires, the GOAT threads will be countless. Right...I mentioned flaws about Sampras..no FO, no GOAT. Laver I can't really comment because I never saw him play. Pete no FO and Roger h2h versus Nadal. Isn't it simple logic?

if Nadal could win another Aussie, then I would give him the nod over Fed even if he fell short of 17 total slams. Even more so if he had something like 2 aussie's, 3 wimbledon's, 9 FO's, 2 US.

his overall body of work when you factor Master's titles, Gold medals, and h2h records over the top 4 guys is just more complete.

He's done things that most of the greats couldn't do as well....sweep the 3 clay master's and win the french, and pull off the canada/cinci/US Open trifecta which Fed complained was too taxing to accomplish.

Great post.

When you ask yourself whether Nadal is the greatest of his era answer this: Is there anyone greater than him?
