I think they surpassed them in 2019 tbh. They've just been adding to their collective legacy since then (one that still doesn't include a slam, huge mark against them).

Depends on how you look at it. Next gen needed for the big 3 to be in damn near wheelchairs(and even still djoker can win the calendar) to win anything . Lost gen had to deal with thre more prime versions of the big 3. You can kind of argue lost gen is still superior

Zverev has already tied Safin and Roddick and surpassed Hewitt in Masters titles.

Regardless of the Big-4, Raonic, Dimitrov etc never had the consistency of the next gen. Raonic was a top-10 player for about 1,5 years, Dimitrov for a little over 2 years, Nishikori for 4 years. And they were older than the next gen is now when they first reached top-10.
The next gen top players are basically top-10 players since their early 20s - even top-5 for most of the time.

If Thiem/Cilic are part of lostgen, then definitely not.

All those nextgen GS finals COMBINED are worth nothing compared to one sigle GS title.

Lost-Gen includes Schwartzman, Busta & Thiem.

So no.

Thiem alone at Slams beats them all.

Zverev beat Rafa and Djokovic on clay on his way to 2x clay masters. Beat Fed on HC to win a HC master...beat Djokerer back to back for a WTF Title....

Zverev is and has been legit, on the occasions when he has it together mentally. Only Nextgen player who has the game, the others all have really critical fundamental flaws, like Stef’s ROS. He unfortunately has all kinds of off court issues that have held him back

They beat declined big 3. It’s what we’ve been expecting them to do since 2018. They are 9-11 years younger after all.

2005-2010 Rafa and Fed on clay and hard are light years ahead of what nextgen had to face. Likewise, 2011-2015 Djokovic is light years ahead of current Djokovic.

Nishikori is not much younger than del Potro and Cilic, one could argue the latter are part of that generation too so it's a no-brainer in that regard.

Thiem is basically in between generations, shouldn't count for either.

It would have been a disaster if they didn't given the difference in the quality of the Big 3 each faced.
At least they faced big 3. Dimitrov has won WTF beating sock. Zverev has beaten Fedkovic. Lol. 2017, worst year after RG. The competition was pathetic. Didn't sock win a masters ? Is he part of lost gen?

Yes in the manner of your cancer risk being DOUBLED (oh no!) from a 0.0004% chance to 0.0008% chance when exposed to a certain toxin.

Also what needs to be taking into account is Nishi, Raonic had to deal with a much better big 3 so it was harder to win things

Even when they had no big 3 they flopped. Wimbledon 2016 was a whitewash.
Oh I think next gen is better and they are flops but I feel if they were the age of next gen now it be different.
Remember though Djokovic is dominating slams he is poor in masters etc as I feel he doesn’t really care. He has 3 slams no masters and a 250 this season so someone has to win the masters and it’s the next gen

Funny part is, they still have the same number of slams won

Slams won by 1980-1984 gen: 26 (Federer, Hewitt, Roddick, Ferrero, Safin)

Slams won by 1985-1989 gen: 51 (Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Wawrinka, Del Potro, Cilic)

Slams won by 1990-1994 gen: 1 (Thiem)

Slams won by 1995-1999 gen: 1 (Medvedev)

LostGen won 1 slam, NextGen won 1 slam.

So no.

And LostGen had to deal with Big 3 their entire careers whereas these NextGen freeloaders are basically waiting until Djokovic and Nadal retire.

Pathetic.
