Has Venus won her final slam already

Most people were expecting her to win today, including me but she didnt. Thinking of the big picture has Venus won her final slam already. These are the many things going against her at this point:

1. She has NO chance at either the Australian or French Open anymore, she is done completely as a contender on slow surfaces.

2. She will be 30 years old by the time of next years Wimbledon and U.S Open.

3. She is owned completely by Serena.

So unless she wins this years U.S Open there is a good chance IMO she has won her final slam. I actually expect Serena to win atleast 4-5 more slams but I think Venus has probably already won her last. What do you think.

I hope not but I think probably so. She sucks on all slow surfaces nowadays, and Serena is better than her now even on their favorite surfaces. She is also getting up there in age like you said.

I can see her getting another Wimbledon, maybe 2 if she's very lucky. I say that because in addition to the weak women's field right now, the amount of quality grass court players seems to be particularly low. However some players such as Azarenka and Lisicki did show future grass potential this year. As for the US Open, she always seems to go in as one of the favourites, and no doubt will this year as well, but she hasn't won it in 8 years and hasn't reached the final in 7, so it seems as though that's out of bounds nowadays too. So I think all slams except Wimbledon now she's done. I think she could easily have already won her final slam though.

I dont think women are past their prime in their early 30s in all cases. I dont think Navratilova for example was at all but when Graf overtook and even began dominating her that was a convenient excuse. Court dominated in 1973 at 31 and could have in 1974 at 32 had she not taken the year off to have another baby, by 1975 being 33 was a bot too old to begin another comeback after a year off but she was still capable of dominating in her early 30s. Graf probably would have kept winning slams until mid 2002 or so when she would have been 33 if she hadnt had so many injuries.

no if you look at the wta lineup its not that good, and she practically destoryed everyone in her way to wimbledon, she lost because she had a bad day, i mean she played like crap but if she gets it going i give her 1 more wimbledon maybe 2, and maybe a us open

It is hard to say for sure. I see her ending up somewhere from 7-9 though. Her sister has alot more slams in the future than she does for a number of reasons:

1. She is over a year younger, as both are getting up in age somewhat

2. She is a threat on all surfaces, Venus clearly is not at this point

3. Serena seems to have the edge on Venus now even on Venus's favorite surfaces.

I think she could win as many as 2 more at most, and might also never win another one, largely for the reasons posted above.

Venus was the better player throughout the tournament. She just screwed up at the worst possible time. She still has the edge on grass over all other WTA players(including Serena). She's also got chances at the USO.

She hasnt been to a U.S Open final since 2002 now, and this is her last U.S Open coming up that she wont be atleast 30. I would say her chances of actually winning there are next to nothing unless she pulls it off this year.

This years Wimbledon was her 3rd loss to Serena in a Wimbledon final so it wasnt like a fluke. Most years she was winning Wimbledon Serena wasnt around or lost earlier which doesnt seem to be in Serena's plans at Wimbledon in the near future. Last year Venus took her in the final, but not sure if she can do it again, again especialy being 30 and up starting next years Wimbledon.

If Venus and Serena meet in a final again, YES.
If not, NO.

Well the only place Venus is capable of making a final at this point is Wimbledon and maybe the U.S Open (and even then not much for longer give her age), and it is pretty safe Serena will always be there waiting at those venues.

If Elene Dementieva had got that match point, we'd have seen a different Venus in the final.
She seemed like she doesn't want the title.

As someone pointed out, in women's tennis you can cut them out.

In the 07 USO, she lost in the semi's to the eventual champion, dropping 1 set before her loss. In 08, she hadn't dropped a set until she faced Serena. She definitely has a realistic chance of winning the title.

Hitting 30 doesn't turn a magical switch that makes it exponentially more difficult to win majors, especially when you're preserving yourself, like the Williams do, for the majors.

Hard to say but I voted "yes". She only has 3 more chances left at most, this years U.S Open and next years Wimbledon and U.S Open, and Serena is favored over her in all 3.

Who Cares! ! !

It's not like she and her overripe sister actually care about the sport.

I think they care very much contrary to what some think. I think Venus will go down as one of the most unlucky players in history. She has now lost out on from 5-7 slam titles to her sister.

Venus lost to her sister? ? ? ? Ha, more like Venus lost the coin flip in the locker room.

A championship match (sic) between Venus and Serena is as realistic as a match for the championship between Triple H and Randy Orton.

The sisters are very close and love each other. It must be hard to play each other for titles. Serena is the better player though and both their favorite surfaces are the same so it will be hard for Venus to win again.
