Have always used NRG2 Multifilament. Want to try hybrid?

Happy with NRG2 Multifilament. It lasts me over six months!
It still feels comfortable and I have control. Very little fraying. I hit flat. 4.0 level. Play 5x a week.
TW Happy Hour Sale had the Luxilon IR on sale for $2.

Should I experiment with a hybrid setup?
Some posters complain that copoly kills their arm?

if you like it, why change. on the other hand, with a soft poly(cream, warrior response) in the crosses, i do not notice a huge difference in comfort, but you do get a modest boost in spin ime. I can only say this applies for softer frames and with the poly crosses strung under 50 lbs. moreover, this also only works if the multi continues sliding freely over the poly crosses (i have not tested nrg, but hdmx does this well even after notching). it will not last 2 months at 5x week/4.0 level

Just to experiment. I string NRG2 at 52 lbs.

Keep the nrg. Polys are like the dark side; once you start that path, forever will it dominate your life. Consume you it will…

Seriously you get one and then you wonder about shaped version or roughness, low or mannarino tensions, snap back etc. and you will be lucky to get 2-3 weeks out of each set.

If you wanna try it, just get some thin poly, put it on the crosses and drop the tension maybe 5-10 lbs. It's a tradeoff of spin vs comfort.

Triax full bed or NRG mains poly crosses sound both like good options.

The playability of the hybrid will likely change more over 6 months though than a full bed of nrg or triax.

I never break strings using full bed NRG2. Never break strings. And it plays well for me for at least 4 months.
Actually plays better at the end of 4 months than on Day One. It is what it is. Sorry if that offends anyone.

Likewise, when I try the NRG2/Poly hybrid I do not expect the co-poly strings to break.

But I will observe the playability of hybrid. I estimate that I will get at least 2 months playability. Perhaps longer. Will have to observe.

The poly will loose tension way faster than the multi, so playability will change faster

When you hybrid multifilament with poly, the poly will saw through the multi in a short time. If you play 5x per week, by the end of the 3rd week, the multi will be frayed so much that it will start to limit the sliding and snap back ability of the poly, thereby, nullifying any additional spin benefits from using poly. I highly doubt the hybrid would ever last longer than 4 weeks before the multi gets to thin and breaks. So you will have to accept the decrease in durability/longevity in hopes of gaining a little more spin/control. It's only good for about 2-3 weeks of daily play but one of my favorite poly/multi hybrids is Yonex PolyTour Pro (a soft poly) in the mains 50# and NRG2 in the crosses 54#. Once you have tried a poly/multi hybrid, I would be interested in hearing your comparison to full bed multi since you have been a long term multi player.
