Have we seen the last of O2 Arena?

With the way things are going, there is a good chance that tennis is done for 2020. ATP World Tour Finals was scheduled to move to Turin from 2021.

Will they still have it London to make up for the 2020 season or it's the last of the O2 arena?

It's not looking good for tennis or sports in general, since it's basically popular opinion that the virus will return in the fall.

On another note, this tournament should have been moved. The only reason it stayed that long is because of Kermode.

Nobody knows that. And even if it does return, the panic should pass by then.

Basically most pandemic scientists are saying it will. It's not the panic you have to worry about but the virus and how easily it spreads.
As it looks like, the virus is not that different from other viruses. But there is a lot of panic. The fact it is a new and unknown virus makes people worried.

This is true but how it easily it spreads and its higher than normal death rate is enough to cause panic.

The virus will probably remain on Earth forever. I don't think the virus is that dangerous, the death rate is pretty low compare to other serious diseases. However, it's easy to spread which will affect human economy.

Not necessary. There were much more serious diseases which simply passed.

I think SARS just disappeared right before they finished developing a vaccine for it. I don't think this will disappear, but I do think they eventually develop a vaccine for it.

As if it has gone anywhere in the first place.

Unfortunately, I think it's highly likely. Although the WTF isn't scheduled until November, it's unlikely social distancing will have been relaxed enough by then to allow a crowd packed tennis event in a confined, if spacious, arena.

Turin is contracted to stage the WTF from 2021 so 2019 is the last memory we will have of the O2 (unless it stages some other tennis event at some future date).

Europe doesn't need more big tournaments. Singapore would've been awesome.
Singapore wouldn't be awesome for the big three, who rule the sport. Flying to London for any of them takes 45 minutes to 2 hours (for Nadal). Singapore is 10,500 kms from Zurich.

On the other hand, it was held in Shanghai (much further way) from 2005-8.

I think we have seen the last of it. Another problem is the ranking. I mean the ranking is frozen but let's see the season resumes later this year wouldn't it be unfair that most players don't really get a chance to qualify. If you were in the top 8 before the ranking froze you are at a huge advantage and very unlikely to lose the spot. Anyways I don't think we will see sports( I hope I am wrong please god) this year and I am actually happy it moved but I would have preferred another location like the States or Asia.

It's not like any of their predictions have been remotely accurate. It's better for them to predict the doomsday scenario so they don't get blamed if it does come back.

Our data suggests that covid19 has an infection fatality rate that is in the same ballpark as seasonal influenza.

I really worry that unless we manage to have a viable plan to exit from lock down and shelter in place and reopen our world, the
consequences will be far worse than coronavirus.

Yup! Some say it can spread like the common cold! If we've learned anything from the planet being held on house-arrest its to invest in toilet paper futures. Building codes should mandate/or woman-date, installation of butt-washer thingies on toilets that would drastically minimize the need for tp--this would be a VERY green outcome learned from this historic event. There was one advertised on TV for as little as $49.99 or you can go ritzy and get a TOTO WASHLET for about $500 that will warm the seat, powder your booty, and put a light on things. SAVE THE TREES!
