Have you ever seen tennis players do the two pairs of different colored socks thing?

They do it in basketball though i haven't seen it in the nba a lot. just mainly high school. They're are usually nike socks. It looks like they are wearing one sock with the top part white and the rest of the sock black or something else. THey say its for ankle support. anyways, does it appear in tennis?

kinda. people usually wear a white sock, with a black ankle brace, making it appear as though they were wearing two colored socks.

I do two socks for the cushioning and the more stuffy feeling inside the shoes so the shoes dont move around as much. But I do same color socks haha

Zheng Jie, I always see her with black and white socks kinda like Yin and Yang, or is the black sock actually an ankle protector???

funny that people actually think a sock will help you when you roll your ankle... hell i was wearing high black nike socks when i ran around my backhand on a lefty slice serve (stupid i know) put my right foot behind me, loaded up after spraining all 5 toes and 3 ligaments and tendons in ankle, hit a down the line winner past the net guy in doubles.

i wore ASO's for 2 years after that and i've jumped and rolled my ankle with those and those held me up back when i was like 240.

now i've lost the weight, strengthened and stretched ankles accordingly and now i have no problems. I've even rolled my left one on a really rubbery court and loaded up and played the rest of the point like nothing happened....big crack but it felt good

point is. don't wear socks for ankle support if you need it.

You're going on about the wrong thing I think.

Gary I'm a highschool kid with a kind of basketball/retro/tennis style hah. Quite a few people on my team do the black socks with white over it, definitely not for ankle support. I also know a few college soccer players that do this. It is a style thing.

yeah i know i was off topic noveson, it just amazes me that people think some cotton and elastic can save your ankles.

Oh, gotcha, sorry. Yeah, maybe their socks are made of tougher things than ours are:)

My teenage son wears one pair and then cuts the other colored pair at the ankle and wears the upper "sleeve" part over his main sock so you can see the color of the lower sock. All his buddies do the same thing.

A lot of association football players do it since the socks tend to be very thin. They just cut the top portion and wear whatever sock they want below that. The sleeve part is actually a mandatory piece of equipment to differentiate both teams.
