having problems with kblade tour.

first of all for my background i am a 4.0 player with solid strokes and a 1hbh.
i stand at about 6'2 and im using my k90 and 2 kbts.

one thing i have a problem with is the grip size.
i had jusr ordered 2 1/2 but it feels like a 3/8s maybe smaller to me.
also im wondering what peoples set up are with lead on this racket.

the L4 size feels just fine for me. but then again your hands may be bigger.

anyways my setup is very minor, ~2 grams of lead @ 12.

strung with Pro Supex Blue Gear Mains @ 57 and Gut Crosses @ 55

plays great for me. no problems, awesome feel and pinpoint control, and just the right balance of power.

yeah i think mines are.
i still use my k90 thats a 5/8 with extra layers of tape.
have you tried lead at the 3 and 9 ?

i have tried lead there as well, with a total of a 3grams added and also 6 grams at one point.

the 6 grams felt just fine, but the "whip-feel" was lost and i didn't like the SW.

3 grams was ok, but there was still an increase in my ideal SW, so i still didn't like it.

finally, i put ~2g at 12, with electrical tape covering the lead, still has the whip feel with my ideal SW, and the effects of lead are still present.

I put 3 grams in the throat to bring up the weight a little and it felt great after that.. so maybe the throat? to match the weight of the k90

The leather grip on these Wilson's tend to be slimmer than their ordinary grip. I've had to build up the pallet to get a more real size.

Why did you buy kBlades with L4 when your k90s are L5? That's your problem there! Use a heat shrink sleeve ti build up the grips.

well its hard to find grips that are 5/8 espically on fleabay.
yes i usually use a 5/8 on my k90 but 1/2 is only a overgrip size smaller?

now that ive gotten used to it after hitting for countless hours, is it me or does it not have any power?

it really does not have much power at all. it's a little more FORGIVING than other mids, but still lacking in the power department. like i said, it's a true control lover's stick.

but if you think that's low, wait till you try the PS ROK.

the blade tour felt like plastic to me when i hit with it. was not impressed by this racquet at all

Ahh, another mis-attempt by Wilson to offer a Wilson-branded competing frame (KBT = MG Prestige Mid??? - Not quite). Perhaps Head should shut all this down by offering their Prestiges with optional "Wilson-grip-shaped" handles.

In fact, the only Wilson imitation of another brand I've ever been halfway impressed with was the original Surge (HyperCarbon). That was Wilson's answer to the Pure Drive and I thought they did a decent job (I actually thought it was better than the Pure Drive).

The k-blade tour is made without kevlar unlike the Tour 90, that may account for the 'plastic' feel.
After owning many racquets with and without kevlar I find myself gravitating toward the kevlar models. That being said 100% graphite will feel more lively, with kevlar- smoother.

well, if you look back, the KBT is basically wilson trying again with it's PS ROK, which i can only guess had few fans.

but if you think about it, the KB98 is really wilson's attempt to match the pure drives, and it seems like it's working.

not really, the blade has a thinner constant beam, more flex, and lower power. the Kpro is wilson's attempt to make a pure drive copy- same weight, thicker beam, stiffer, 100 sq in headsize.

ok, if you put into that context. but point is, it's a best seller and most likely competing with the pure drives better than the kpro's.

the kblade doesn't really feel that light; it swings heavier than you would normally expect. I demo-ed a kblade98 and a microgel prestige MP, and I really couldn't feel the difference by swinging them. they swing almost identical, regarding the swingweight.
