Hawk vs Lynx tour, on Speed MP?

Dear All,

I used the lynx tour for around 5/6 months on my Spee MP, 21kg. I enoyed it and developed through it: i started playing recently, though playing a lot (2/3 games oer week) and taking 1to1 classes every week. I recently changed strings to try something new and i was offered to try the Hawk (not the hawk touch). I'm liking it, though i guess not as much as lynx. In last period my forehand has become somehow erratic (also when i was playing with lynx, so not much of string caused), and i'm going contracted as a conquence. I feel the hawk gives also more power so it's probably worsening the issue. The shop would recommend to try the rpm blast as last test. What would you recommend?
Thanks

Hawk touch, 24 kg.

But also, lynx tour is one of the best strings. Superior to normal hawk or rpm blast. Why not stick with that?

Don't drop into the string rabbit hole. If you like Lynx Tour, stick to it and work on your forehand and legs. Because most of the time your legs are ruining your forehand.

Lynx Tour is a very good string. And it works very well at low tension for example 18-19kg.

I think you guys are right! I guess the idea to test other is to make experience with other feelings and also kind of understand better my playing...not sure if that make sense :)
Generally speaking, you would prefer hawk touch over the rpm blast? How the hawk touch compare to the hawk?

Hawk touch is better than rpm blast. Rpm blast doesnt last long. Hawk touch is softer than hawk. Jannik Sinner uses Hawk touch. Can't be a bad string.

I'm not saying it's a bad string.

Hawk Touch is stiffer than regular Hawk. According to my friend who is testing now Head strings and according to TWU comparing tool.
I am also not saying you said that haha. Interesting! I don't feel that way. What color of the hawk did he use? same tension and racket?

Yes same tension and same racket (Head Speed MP Auxetic). Second time he strung with Touch he lowered tension from 20kg to 19kg and it was better.

He used grey version of Hawk. And also grey Hawk Touch.

Gotcha. Interesting. I normaly string around 21-22 kg but with hawk touch I like it the most at 25 kg in my speed mp. Proves that its always best to try something yourself because we experience different things sometimes.

In your opinion, if sometimes i start playing "contracted" and i would like a tension set up (on lynx tour) that allows me to swing more freely, would it be better to go for higher tension or lower?

The magic of Lynx Tour for me is it has enough liveliness it helps you out some and doesn't hurt your arm too much at lower tensions.
It grabs the ball well, and adds loads of spin, but doesn't give you a crazy launch angle.
Very good control. Very good feedback. Lasts a long time. Settles very well. Affordable.
I always have a reel of it on hand.

What would middle be? Why is that in your opinion?
22-23 kg. If its too low you may in your head feel like you have to force more spin to get the ball in, so you tense up your arm. If its too high you may feel like you need to hit harder, so you tense up your arm to hit deeper. If you feel like you need to force the racket to hit deep, you also dont really swing 'freely' in a way that you have to.

Though all this goes out the window if you know that both power and spin come from a loose arm, so both high and low could work. But if you want to make it easy on your mind you need a middle ground for you that its not too powerful and not too dead. The ball needs to go deep with your normal rally ball, so you can swing freely.

@K1Y, @WYK what size and color LT do you prefer? I’ve been using 1.2 grey and champagne strung at 23.5/22.5kg. Both great, like grey slightly more due to it being more crisp, but sometimes they a are a little too powerful in ezone 98 after a couple hours when it drops a little and settles, or maybe loses edges.

I’m thinking about trying 1.25 in main and 1.2 in cross for next experiment…

1.25. This time of year when playing outside I have them strung at 20-21kg. in the mains and about 1kg less in the crosses.

Only tried orange and champagne in 1.25. I may try to find 1.2 soon. Havent tried grey because some people have said it is stiffer than champagne. Might try grey if you disagree with that.

How orange compares to champagne?
