Great performance by great rackets!!
Sorry for an unrelated question I guess but what strings do you suggest for the extreme mp? And what tension?

Seems that the players of latest generations are using a mold of a (maybe past) retail frame. Close enough!

Those Head users in the finals don't buy retail... nor wholesale... their rackets are supplied directly from the manufacturers..

I once had a touch speed mp prepared for a Wta Player...
It was amazing compared to my retail speed..
Feel was great..it was so so powerful..
Amazing what a little strategic lead placement under the bumper and goop in grip does to a frame..

Correct, they are pro stocks however, all 4 of them are identical rackets to what is offered in the store, just customized for their own spec (and string pattern)
Can you share how Zverev’s and Rublev’s string patterns differ from retail? (Apologies if you’ve already answered that somewhere before!)

Rublev and Zverev are using the TGT344.3, version of Gravity Pro with old Speed MP (263) radial 18x20 drill pattern. Retail gravity pro is using the parallel drill pattern.
Barty is using the TGT344.1 that has 16x19 pattern not offered on the retail Gravity Pro.

All of them, however, are using the retail Gravity Pro mold and layup.

If only they’d offer some of these frames in a ‘+’ option. He’ll, I’d even look at an Extreme MP if it were extended.

@dr325i …do you have any pull? Any chance we see a Speed or Radical in a 27.5” length?

Is it so difficult to extend the frame if you need it?

If done professionally, it will cost around $50-60. I’ve tried multiple times to do it myself (so far, 0 for 3), but the real issue is extending a standard length frame gets you a higher static & swing weight than if the manufacturer did it themselves.

I’m trying once again to extend the Extreme Tour myself, this time not stapling the butt cap, but using epoxy, so we’ll see.

The XTP butt cap has issues (search here and you’ll see what I’m talking about).

I’ve never extended a racquet. I can understand you wanting to make the Extreme
Tour work for you. It has a really nice feel.

What’s the practical difference between these drill patterns?

Thanks for all the info!
Do you know then, how this comes about? Do they try the standard one and then say like „it‘s good but I want more power“ and then they get offered that other drill pattern. Does Head already have some special variations for such a new racket line?

I’d certainly look at these frames - especially the Gravity - if they were offered in a 27.5/28” length; as I’ve said more than once before, why would it hurt to supply a few select speciality shops in each country with some hairpins that could be cut to length as customers request?

Great Rackets - yes.
But to say "great performance by rackets" it is too much :) I would say great performance by players that use these rackets :)

I'm very curious about this too. It's such a specific change. Most players probably wouldn't even know to ask for it.

Then Rublev should have stuck with his old racket? Would have done the same?

So it's really that Head has picked the right horses to sponsor. All manufacturers can make a winning racket. This isn't F1. Winning tennis tournaments comes down to sponsoring the best guys not creating the best frames.

This seems logical, but in the meantime, does Wilson produce any option similar to Gravity or Speed? Is it anyhow wide spread?

The Blade line is their closest competitor. And it's very well represented in the pros.

It's Babolat that has nothing similar sticking largely with power tweeners. Even the strike is nothing like a control tweener.

I imagine Dunlop/Slazenger or some other wood racquet brand still have the all time men's singles majors record? Does Wilson have the open era record? Sampras/Fed give them a healthy start.

Wilsonlets and Babobros in shambles!
The last five mens Slams not won by Djokovic have been won by Nadal/Thiem playing with Babolat. However, Babolat doesn’t have Zverev, Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Rublev, Sinner etc. signed up who will probably win a lot of Slams in the future. Babolat hasn’t picked any good young players to endorse their racquets especially as they are still waiting for FAA to win his first ATP250 tournament.

I know right. Ugh if Only Federer switched to a Gravity Pro before Wimbledon, he would have 21 slams by now! What an idiot!!!!

Oh well, I guess it makes others feel more secure about their purchase lol.
