Head Elite Pro questions

I recently reacquired a Head Elite Pro I had given to my sister years ago because of the shattered white grommets it is known for. I was home for the holidays and she gave it back to lucky me! Thanks to the info. on these boards, I installed the Microgel Prestige Mid CAP grommets (super easy install, don't laugh, but I think they drilled the string holes ever so slightly larger back then, it was a breeze to put the CAPs on), put on a new Babolat Skin Feel grip, and had it strung up with Gosen OG-Sheep Micro 18g at 48 lbs. but haven't hit the courts yet with it (what a nice mettalic green paintjob it has). With Wilson Pro Overgrip she comes in at 12.5 ounces. The orginal white "CAPs" only came around to the 3 & 9 positions, so the full set seems to take away some of the HL balance on this. I don't remember too much about this stick since I only hit with it a couple of times, it looks like my sister barely used it either, practically brand new, just a couple of scrapes at the top of the head, and those are almost completely covered by the new CAPs. It sounds like this should have slightly more flex than the original Prestige Pro, is that right? Lastly, what's the FMV on this stick in exceptional condition?

Yes, the Elite Pro is more flexible than the Prestige Pro. It is a great racquet that was played by Conchita Martinez in the late 1980's and early 1990's. I still have a couple. It has that wonderful HEAD feel of the 1980's. No vibration, good pop, control, and with exceptional feel.

Yes. that's the one (minus the white grommets). It seems to me the grip is not as rectangular as the current mold. I am looking forward to trying it out.

What is the current balance since you've added CAP grommets and also removed the heavier leather grip? Doing those two mods will reduce the HL balance by about 4 pts. and increase the swingweight significantly. If you can handle the swingweight, it will be a beast on court.

VSBabolat, what is the stock balance for an Elite Pro?

Please post some pictures alfa; sounds promising.

Additional question

Yes, the SW is definitely up there with the full CAPs, but I have not checked the balance point or had the SW measured. I do need to post some pics. Quick question, there is a 17 imprinted on the side of the throat just above the white collar - is this the actual serial #? TIA

Update - RDC measures flex @ 55 with a SW of 330. 12.4 ounces strung with overgrip. No balance board, but full CAPs obviously reduces the HL balance point.

I am now the owner of the Elite Pro I mentioned above, cleaned her up as best I can! What a beautiful paint scheme! One of the best perhaps! I have also acquired a Graphite Pro, although I hadn’t done my homework properly as this is not the ‘box beam’ version I was after. Still a nice bat, although grommets are truly spent!

Talking of grommets, am I correct in thinking TK237 or TK292 will fit on both frames with some ‘persuasion’? Which do you think would look best on each? Once again, @retrowagen and @vsbabolat et al.

TK292 I have found to fit on your Elite Pro and Graphite Pro TF
