Head Extreme 2024 Thread

Never played Speed Pro but EP for me feels more comfortable than Speed MP, mostly because it doesn't vibrate as much on offcenter shots and the impact on the ball feels a bit less "raw" and more dampend.
Are you sure?Because i tried Extreme Tour and liked it actually. But it felt stiff.

I can understand why some higher end players like the Speed Pro as it's a nice 100 control frame but I just find 18x20 a little too boardy and the low launch angle doesn't fit well with my game which is spin based. I preferred the Speed MP and I could probably switch back to that racquet as it's easy to use and does everything well. I just feel I'm more dialed in right now with the Extreme Pro as my serve is better and I'm keeping the ball in court more. I was pretty smitten with my Blade 100 V9's but haven't touched them since I got a hold of the Extreme Pro. In fact I really have no desire right now to try other frames right now. I will probably buy a Gravity 98 Tour and try the new Ezone and Pure Drive but I'm very content right now for the first time in a long time.
I, too, had been playing with the V9 100 a bit. I had a great month or two with it. But in the end it just felt too vague for me. I remember it having a nice balance of control/power though.

the tour felt metallic and stiff to me too, 360, 360+ and auxetic 1, as well
the pro, auxetic 2.0, feels good!!!

the speed mp feels metallic to me.
the new extremes do not, more plush
the clear grommets and other measures in the layup, FTW!

Speed MP 2022 feels comfortable to me and definitaly not metallic. But i want something with more control but decent comfort aswell. Damn i even regret selling Speed Pro 2022. After i found out Toroline strings, i think in Speed Pro it would be great at low tension.

I decided to give the extreme pro a try, first hit last night, and I was pleasantly surprised.

First of all, the racquet is very comfortable, played for two hours with no arm issues, I've been having TE on and off, so that was a good sign. Sweetspot feels generous, easy to play with. Mine came a little over specs on sw, unstrung 296 sw, and static weight was 305g. With OG and dampener on, it was 327g, 327sw, 32.5cm balance. I thought it would feel heavy because of the balance and sw. My main racquet is Ezone 98, 325sw and 32.2 cm. But I liked the balance when I was playing last night, everything seems working, good on serve too. I rarely serve well when I try a racquet first time, but it was not far from my Ezone serve last night.

I switched to Ezone in the mid of the second set, there was no issue to switch between these two racquets. Ezone hits more penetrating balls, but EP was easier to create angles and feel more controlled. Not mad at the power level either, compared to my Ezone, EP seems to allow me to play more high-percentage tennis rather than more attacking game, hence fewer mistakes.

Question for the people who are playing with EP. What are your favorite strings in EP. I used MSV Hex Soft 120 yellow for the first hit, it's the same I put in my Ezone, tried to have a fair comparison. I was happy with it in general, just wonder if there's any other strings I should try in this frame.

You got good specs!

Your experience mirrors mine. Not quite as much power as the 100 tweeners I've been playing with but I just make less errors and play better overall tennis with the EP. I actually had a great 2nd half of the summer in some tournaments after switching to this frame.

I was on the EP TW playtest and I strung mine with Kirschbaum Proline II 17g at 48lbs and it was fantastic!

I remember the 2 of us having a similar experience with the Ezone 98. I have switched to the EP as well and have some TruPro Black Knight 1.23 left. I feel like its going to break pretty fast, especially on clay.
Since its a very spin friendly racket, i dont feel the need to play a string with edges. I think my next strings to try will be Head Hawk and Razor Soft in 1.25.

I will hit with it again tonight, see if it's a honeymoon or not. I liked hawk white in my PA98 at low 40s. I have a set left, I will try it in EP.

Yeah since there is no need for edgy strings, I was hoping for a consistent experience from the start.

Yeah its the outstanding one this year.
There are not many spin/control combos around.
Plus the consensus I've read, and experienced myself trying both, is that the MP 2.0 is essentially the same as the 1.0. Really good racquet, but too wild for me - I think if I were to go for that type of racquet, I'd lean towards the Boom MP/Ezone 100/Vcore 100.

I think we were talking about pro here, I briefly demoed MP 2.0, I liked it too.

No I know, just responding to the earlier comment w/r to this being too much of an Extreme Pro thread (at least that was the implication), so just chiming in why I think the Pro was the more interesting of the 24 release.

The MP is better.
I bought the MPL and added double overgrips, balancing it with 3 grams of lead tape at the 2 and 10 o’clock positions and 1.5 grams at the 12 o’clock position. The overall weight of the customized racket is close to my 300g Pure Rafa, but it plays better in terms of feel and comfort.

I love the result pretty much customized to play like an MP. Through this customization, I learned that adding lead at 12 o’clock provides controlled power rather than free power. Initially, I was hesitant to add lead at 12 o’clock because I was concerned it would increase the MPL racket’s power from 700 to even higher with affected the swing weight.
However, the added weight has helped reduce the overall power of the racket and improve control.

Nice stick, my gf uses it and I tried it myself. Easy to use.

When I was considering switching to the EP 24, I looked for reviews from advanced players to get a better comparison. MP Tennis was a helpful resource, and this one is good too. I had a similar experience playing with this frame. It's worth watching before trying it out.

The Extreme Pro is the best racquet I ever payed, because it is a mixture of a Pure Aero (70%) and a controll frame like a Prestige (30%).

With the MSV Focus Hex Ultra 1,20 it is the perfect combination.

I was never so satisfied with a racquet.
What tension do you use? Do you know the sw of your racket?

I am telling you, this racquet is really great. What a surprise!!!

Any of you seen replacement Grommet for the 2024 extreme yet?

33 SW points for MSV Focus Hex Ultra 1,20 or did you end up adding some lead?
I picked up an extra grommet just to be safe, but I haven’t had to use it yet. I’m pretty gentle with my racket—I don’t let my racket head touches on the court—and I’ve learned a better knot to keep the grommet holes in good shape even it is a string-eating beast
Oh, and the new grommet has a slightly softer feel compared to the traditional material.

Just saw that they're available on TW.com, but sadly not on TW Europe or somewhere else here... Guess I'll have to wait.

Anyone have a favorite string for this racquet? Just picked up a pair and trying to figure out what to use. Debating between Lynx Touch and Hawk at the moment.

Is the Extreme Pro worth the upgrade fro the Extreme Tour?
The Tours are on sale which makes them very appealing!
If you plan to play them stock, I'd go for EP. It's more stable and a bit more muted (both contributes to comfort).
If you add weight in the hoop anyway, you can go with the ET.
The EP respondes a little more soft, which gives you more control and less spin (but both very small differences) compared to ET.
So playability characteristics are similar with similar stats.

Tbh i have seen all sorts of good players playing MPs. Its just a personal preference but i want a spin and control stick and the Extreme MPs are more for power and spin.

If the ET comes in strung SW as noted sub 320 then I’ll be adding weight in the hoop for sure. But looks like everyone’s is coming in heavier around the 325 Sw mark which makes things trickier

A 5.5 is a very high level. That's a half step away from being a world class professional. Unless of course you're blowing smoke up our butts.
5.5 is not half step away from world class pro...
Here is the correspondence:

I play very well with extreme mp and even better with speed mp

5.5 is not half step away from world class pro...
Here in the United States it most certainly is.
