Head Extreme 2024 Thread

I guess putting my own url wasnt allowed. So here it is without "promoting my own stuff":

This looks like a different pic. Looks like the child of a younger boom that went slumming with a mid-life crisis extreme

Thanks for the answer! Yeah that's what I've always read, the different is so slight that it doesn't deserve a change. I also have two different ET 360+ and they feel a bit different between them (one is a bit more solid than the other, which came a bit under spec... but the later is better for serving).

When they come up with the new line I will consider a switch. It's true that the Auxetic looks cleaner, but that alone is not sufficient reason... I'm also tempted to go to the dark side back to Babolat (the Pure Aero) again, but my concern is arm pain, which I never had with the Extreme.

What is that black band I see in the top of your rackets? Is it to add weight or just for protection? Also, by curiosity, which strings worked best for you with the ET?

The new-new one looks quite ugly IMO.
I haven't tried many strings with it.

I used RPM Blast @ 51lbs in the mains and Luxilon 4G Desert Bronze in the crosses.

Gives you a little spin and the 4G gives a little arm comfort.

I originally tried Solinco Confidential in it and it was awful. Maybe a bad string job?

The black band is head tape. I just use it to protect the frame and because it looks old school. It's rare for people to use it anymore.

I have 4 Pure Aeros. Two regular, a VS and a 98.

I usually play the Extreme Tour because I like the softer feel to it.

The Pure Aeros are fine but the Extreme Tour is like a tennis elbow friendly version of the Pure Aero VS/98.

I would like to add something about the string setup above.

It works good.

But...the honest reason I've been using it is because it looks cool. I like the black and desert bronze on the racket.

My 360+ has Head Lynx Tour Champaign on it and those strings are pretty good on the racket.

I be Hyper G would work as well. I like Hyper G in just about any racket.

I had a full bed of RPM Blast in it and that worked as well. But it's more expensive that Lynx Tour and Hyper G.

This racket didn't work with Solinco Confidential for me. The ball felt dead coming off the strings. Weird feeling so I'm guess possibly a bad string job.

But I think a lot of strings will work well with the Extreme Tour.

The 51lbs is just a personal preference.

When I started, I had my Pure Aeros strung @ 53 lbs. It was just okay.

Eventually did 51 lbs and liked it.

Went as low as 48 lbs but ended up going back to 51 lbs.

51 lbs just seems to be my personal sweet spot where I'm always happy with how a racket feels strung there.

A lot of high level players will string in the 55 to 60 lbs range.

But that's just too dead feeling for me.

If I were able to hit the ball like Rafa or Andy Roddick I might give that a shot.

Interesting! Because I was considering exactly that switch (from the Extreme Tour to the Pure Aero), but you say having both that you prefer the ET...

Don't get me wrong I'm quite happy with my ET 360+, however when I play competitive matches against rivals that are better and put a lot of pressure I think the racket is not helping me that much, and wonder if a 100 sq in racket with a bit more power and forgiveness (yes, the Pure Aero) could help me in that regard. Some of the best players in my league play with some version of the Pure Aero 100 and I think that racket makes their life easier in competitive matches.

Maybe I should try the Extreme MP as, like you say, a "soft version" of the Pure Aero. But people don't tend to talk so well about the Extreme MP as they do about the Aero...

Strings wise, I've tried MSV Focus Hex (good), Signum Pro Experience (ok), Pro's Pro Blackout (very good) at about 23-22 kg and around 1.25 gauge. But I'm thinking about trying something else for a change. I also care about looks and although Blackout has worked out pretty well, I think a black string doesn't suit the racket too well. I was thinking precisely about Head Lynx Tour, but other options are Toroline K-Pro or Caviar, Mayami Magic Twist, Yonex Polytour pro...

It's weird but in that video the racquet looks just like the previous generation yellow/grey version.

Hello everyone,

Creating this thread for the new year to discuss the eventual release of the next generation of extremes. Where the line may go, comparisons to older generations, all that good stuff.

And of course, cosmetics!!!
Hi there new Member here. I got my hands on the new Extreme MP and have been hitting for a week or so with it. I am 4.0 player (mostly doubles) Have been playing with Yonex EZONE 100 and before that Babalot Pure Drive. I can say I love the feel of this one for me better than anything I have hit with. Frist day purchase

Any change is swingweight? How was the feel?
Manchu, I never played with the other versions. I can tell you this much, it feels amazing. It has a softer more plush feel than my 2 other rackets Yonex EZone and Pure Drive. I have a Multi string in there and can generate decent topspin. if I mishit it does not hurt my arm ( and I have had elbow issues from before tennis) If you like a stiffer feeling , you probably will not like this. I did grab the current version and hit with it for 30 minutes. It had different string on it so not a fair comparison. However, the new version I felt more connected, had more control, serving is effortless for whatever reason. Not stiff but not mushy either. Hard to explain, it just feels really good and you should demo one. I am buying it when they come out. Just sold my Pure Drive and Yonex both great sticks by the way This one just fits my game for whatever reason.

Can you ask which multi string has on it ?

All these 2.0 paint jobs a step back from the 1.0 ones.....the avocado was pristine
I agree. I'm not sure what Head is doing on these 2.0 paint jobs.

They really dropped the ball on all of them IMO.

I'm hoping this Extreme Tour paint job grows on me because I really like the racket.

And I've built a game that goes well with it.

But I'm considering just buying another avacado when the price goes down and waiting another year or two until these companies start releasing better looking rackets.

How hard is it to keep the matte yellow and avacado and just change the design up a bit?

It has Velocity Power Multi ( new string at 16 gauge) I just re strung it with NRG2 17 Gauge to try that out, they both feel nice with this one. The NRG at 17 is a tad softer on my arm so far. Velocity I can say I liked the control better so far but I just started hitting with it.

Manchu, how did you get the Extreme 2.0 before it's even been announced?
I do not think Manchu has it. I have been hitting with it and I know someone pretty high up that has it and he has let me use it! A few big country club pros have the racket.

I don’t have it. Lemonator is the one who hit with it. I have seen it in a local shop. Looks just like the instagram post from a couple weeks ago. A light yellow, almost white color along with the gloss yellow. I wonder if it looks lighter in the sun like the video makes it look. I am hoping it has a more solid feel like the new speed does.

A simple change would have made this racket work.

All they had to do was add the avacado color into the the top of the hoop instead of using the funky white color.

Throat = White

Mid Hoop = Yellow

Top Hoop = Avacado

There you go. You got yourself a bad ass looking racket that's going to draw some attention.

I don't know how you screw something up so simple.

I really like this racket but I think people are going to stay away from it.

I might buy it anyway but I'm not going to like it.

Looks are subjective. I do like the new paintjob, I think white and yellow is a nice combination. Also we would have to see it in person to really appreciate how it actually looks.

I am not a big fan of Yellow, but in person this does not offend me and I do not love or hate it. What I do love is that all the gals at the club when they see me with this racket all make a comment on how nice and pretty it looks . LOL . So if you want some extra attention from the ladies at the club this seems to be a racket to bring it. Ha ha. Not kidding though , it has happened every time I have hit with it.

Maybe it's not as bad as I originally thought. Like the camo-Prince Phantoms, you can't really say how a racket looks until you see it on court (sunlight, lights, physical background).
I'm sad. The design I saw on the previews 7-8 months ago look way better than this. The yellow part is more of a lime green/yellow and the white part is a lighter lime green. It was gorgeous. Now I lose my appetite on it.

tbf all the photos we've seen on this thread have been over exposed

They may be admiring your metrosexuality; then again they may be questioning your masculinity - I’ve often struggled with deciphering this scenario…:sneaky:

LOL that is a funny take. I am actually friends with most of them, my wife is also a member and laughs at some of the comments. Funny my wife was just telling me how I do not have a metro bone is my body and loves the fact I am still a MAN. LOL Crazy times we live in.....LGBQLMNOPRSTV....

Unpopular opinion, this is the best non-blacked out Extreme paint job since microgel

Edit: actually I just looked it up, regular Youtek was good too
