Head G360 Radical Oversize NITE Limited Edition

Mine had just arrived.

335g with dampener.

I dont have any way of checking swing weight, but it feels easier to swing than my POG tour 107 that also weighs about 335g. That's probably just in my head.

Can't wait to try it out. The paint job look great.

I mean not to be captain obvious but you've added 12g of static and a good few SW points with that lead, have you played it stock?

Although at 355g without lead it must be way over-spec anyway as it should be 320g unstrung right?

Indeed

I have a total of 3 rackets all range 353-360 with NO lead

Either the website is wrong or their QC is terrible...

And yours came with just a standard synthetic grip on it?

Mine was 333g strung with Velocity MLT 16, no dampener no over grip. So probs about 340 ish with dampener + over grip.

320g unstrung is printed on the racket itself

interesting. did it come with leather grip?

No leather but they built a size 4 from the size 3

At this point I suspect an heat shrink sleeve that adds about 15-20g but I have no way to check.

Good point tho!

yep - that should explain the 360g weight.
the trimmed heat shrink adds about 10-15g.
i suggest to get TK82/TK82s pallets and butt cap in L4 to reduce the weight. this will obviously bring the balance back to the "QC range".

I have those somewhere....

Truth is I'm loving the new radical pro 98 fwiw

Right

So I opened up one of the rackets and indeed they had a heat shrink sleeve on

Took that off and changed pallet to a size 4, added a head leather grip and yonex super grap

New specs

Weight 350g
Balance 31.6
SW 330
Mgri 21.01

Just perfect!

Here's an image of racket code

Hopefully you have a better experience with it in that configuration.

Sometimes when I want to increase a grip size, I put 1 tightly wrapped over grip under the main grip. Seems to work fine and weighs far less than a shrink wrap.

Right

cool - can i ask what type of butt cap it came with and which butt cap did you replace it with for the new pallet? thanks.

Butt caps are all the same in my experience. I have some size 4 ones tk219 but I just reused the 4 3/8 that came with it

cool, the TK219 should have the weighted piece moulded on the back of the trap door, but should be okay as you wanted a HL balance anyway.

Played today with this and original radical tour bumblebee back to back, just under 1 hour total so not a long session

Overall very solid frame, the bumblebee has just a bit more feel perhaps

String setup was different so will restring same and try again

I played 1 set with the OS Nite over this weekend.

It feels great on contact, and is fairly manoeuvrable for a heavy frame. However, I just kept hitting everything long, and couldn't control the power.

I had it strung with head velocity mlt @57, so maybe the tension is too low for a racket of this swingweight / head size.

Whenever I see reviews of OS rackets, the reviewers always mention shortening their strokes to gain more control. I too probably need to make some adjustments to use this racket effectively.

I played the second set with a lighter racket and I instantly stopped hitting long and regained some confidence.

Try Kevlar/zyrx or monogut zyex full bed at 60

I've just got mine restrung with Mantis comfort Synthetic at 63LB. I've never used this string before, but I had a set in a draw for ages so I thought I'd give it a go.

Restrung my POG tour version with Prince premier control 15 at 63LB also.

These two rackets are vary comparable, as they both weigh about 335g, and have a similar swing weight and balance.

Im looking to play the next couple of months worth of league tennis with these two frames as well as a customised Head gravity S.

Interesting, I have not tired those strings.. let me know your findings

yes the POG is very similar spec wise BUT it has a 16x19 pattern i believe, so it should have more power and less control than the 18x19 pattern in the Radical...

I looked at the gravity S as well but between the weight/balance and the pattern and non constant beam i just bought more radical OS

Im glad youre also trying out a few different string setups. Ill be interested to what you like the most.

Ive got mild tennis elbow at the moment, so I'm trying to stick to multifilament strings until I've recovered.

I think the thick 15 guage of the prince premier control will even out the playability between the two frames. The mantis is 16 guage, but from some reading I've done, its apparently quite thin for a 16.

Ill most likely play again on the weekend depending on the weather :)

when i play with the agassi OS, i have to work harder to generate trajectory and spin. its a sledgehammer when you get it moving, but with the higher SW its tougher to get it moving.

I don't think I'm used to that sort of plow through + multifilament strings. I couldn't quite figure out the best balance on swing speed. Slow and fast swings seemed to launch the ball. The increase in tension + playing time will sort that out.

Im happy with it overall, as it's super comfortable and gives me no arm soreness at all.

You can slow down your motion a bit while reducing your swing size to about 1/2-2/3s normally worked for me. This is of course from memory. You might be hitting the ball earlier as well. If you can turn the extra energy into spin to keep it in that would be ideal. They were fun to play with...basically you will learn to adapt and it will eventually fix itself...

I'm torn because I grew up playing 107 but just got a newly strung 2013 APD that is tempting me... Weights 340g and swing weight 327 versus 358 and 340

Played for a few hours today with the Radical Nite OS (mantis comfort Synthetic 16 @ 63lb) and the POG OS (prince premier control 15 @63lb).

Both rackets played so much better with a higher tension. The mantis comfort is really low powered for a multi, which really suited the radical.

I'm really happy with both rackets at this point. I was a bit worried after the first hitting session but all it good now. Im really enjoying serving with heavier frames as well.

I really don't understand why there aren't more oversize racquets marketed with serious players' specifications. Currently, I have to add lead tape to my MicroGel Oversize Radicals for stability and power. What I'd really like to see is a version with a 16 x 19 string pattern.

Try some bumblebee or zebras

These radical os nites have good weight /balance

I saw above that these had heat Shrink on the grips, but are they actually fitted with 3/8 Pallets?

Too bad I cant get these sent downunder :(

I've just bought another one of these OS Nite rackets, as I'm going to attempt to use is as my main racket for the foreseeable future. I got it for almost half price on **ay and it's basically brand new.

The weight / manoeuvrability haven't been an issue yet, and I'm serving better than ever with heavy OS frames.

I wish I could buy a new POG 107 in the uk, as I do slightly prefer it to the radical. Saying that there isn't much between them.

Nice!

What did you string it with?

Why do you prefer the POG?

It's strung with Wilson revolve 17 at 52lb, but I'm most likely going to put a multi in it next time I restring. I haven't noticed a change in my match results since switching to multifilament strings, and it keeps my arm feeling good.

The POG just feels a little nicer. I've played with it more though, so some of that will be familiarity. The 16x19 also gives a little more spin.

The Mantis synthetic multi that is in my current radical OS feels nice and is controllable, but It does lack some spin. I'll probably restring both with prince premier control 15 as that string is great and lasts ages.

I've now played 5 league matches with the Head OS nite + Wilson revolve, and I have to say that I love it.

Great control and spin, and the weight is really working wonders for my serve.

5 matches and 5 wins.

Im going to try some pro's pro strings next just because they are so cheap. I've got black out, black force, and some of their synthetic gut.

I think ill string one with black out 1.29 @52lb and the other with a Black force/ syn gut hybrid @52/56

So picked one of these up last week and I've been using it for a few hits now.
current thoughts:

It's a really interesting racket. I have added a bit of lead at 12 to pump up the swingweight to what I like and little under the handle too. It's a fairly heavy frame anyway but just light enough to allows you to add weight to get things dialed in. Main positive is the sweatspot is huge. I'd argue it is 'less sweet' than the angel K7 I have been using but it's just so large almost everything that hits the strings feels like sweetspot. Groundstrokes are pretty good. Spin is easy to generate, power level is nice balance for a players frame and taking on the rise is easy with the headsize. Was surprised that it didn't feel too clumsy to move around at the back. At the net it has also been surprisingly good. Volleys crisp and not at all like a classic OS frame would feel. Serve also positive and certainly feel confident taking a big cut on kick serves. It's a very interesting frame which I plan to give a proper test over the next few weeks to see if I will use it as my go to racket. I will keep you posted on progress for those interested.

I'm starting to have a few doubts about this frame. I'm playing my best tennis with it, but its probably too heavy for me.

When I play an opponent I'm comfortable with it's amazing, but when I'm on the back foot the lack of manoeuvrability shows, and I get exhausted mid way through the second set. I notice that I'm choosing 'lazier' shots once I'm tired.

I've customised my Head Gravity S to be 320g strung and to have a 330 SW. I want to see if I can get similar results with slightly less demanding specs.

I just wish these were available here in Australia, very keen to swing one
I am in the same boat in the US.

Someone else just posted about this frame, I had no idea it existed. After googling, it lead me to this thread.

Now I really want a pair of these....

I've been playing this for the last few months and can confirm that, for me, this is a superb racquet. I previously played the bumblebee and the Twintube. Loved them both but felt the feel was a little muted for me - and i think that made me feel like i wasn't quite getting the pop i wanted, especially with the TT. So i moved on but always hankered for the mix that the BB and TT gave me, especially the combination of the forgiveness of the 107 head with the 18/19 pattern giving control, and the 330 weight giving the stability. The Nite shares the playing attributes of the previous versions but in a slightly lighter (and more useable) 320g static weight, and with a more direct feel which i prefer. That allows me to play with a gut-poly set-up while retaining enough feedback to allow me to adjust more readily. I'd like to pick up a second but fear there are few around.

I owned two of them at one point and I deeply regret selling them. Great frames.

I know that this is a really old thread now, but does anyone know if there are any of these floating around? Or if there might be an alternative?

I recently got an old Bumblebee, love it. I there are a few Microgel Oversize still around here in Australia, but adding 25+ grams to one of these seems very excessive

It's the exact same frame as the Agassi 25th anniversary tennis racket but with different paint. Those often come up used online.
