Head Graphene 360+ MP Lite

Has anyone had any experience with the Head Graphene 360+ Speed MP Lite? My son is looking at this with a view to adding 15g in the handle to bring it to 290g. With the extra weight the swing weight would be about 315 which is fine for him, hes only 12. The MP is probably a little to much with a SW nearing 330 and he would probably lose racket head speed. Any experiences or feedback would be appreciated.

The mp lite will be close to 300 with string . I don’t think you need the add weight as my son is 12 and uses gravity mp lite stock . It’s more important to play stock then move up to different strings as he gets older . Maybe even string with a hybrid as he gets older and stronger before moving up to the mp.

I think that at 275 unstrung it will be approx 292 strung depending on the string type and gauge used. His current racket is 280 unstrung and he feels he needs something a little heavier for a touch more stability. The Speed MP lite already has a decent SW but felt getting the unstrung static weight up to 290 would make it more headlight and provide more stability at approx 308 strung. Strings are another thing altogether, he usually uses fully poly.

TW lists the Speed MP Lite with a balance point of 34cm or 1 point headlight with a static weight of 292g. Does anyone know how that would be changed by adding 15g in the handle?

That’s what I mean , stability because he needs more mass behind a full poly string . If he uses syngut with a lighter racket there’s no need for more mass. Until the 12 yr old is strong enough with his shots then stock mp lite is good way to learn the feeling of the 360+ frame.

He plays at a strong regional level and went to his first national at Christmas before the lockdown so needs a stable stick. The boys in his age group are very big and strong.

Try the Gravity S. I play with guys who hit as hard as the pros and I have no problem. It’s the best racquet I’ve ever used. It’s light so I can easily get it around. It volleys and serves great as well as gives plenty of control and power from the ground.

The only issue I’ve experienced when I miss the sweet spot and I’m swinging hard against a 100+ mph shot is I feel the flex just above the grip and below the throat. It’s a weird sensation that makes me feel as though the racquet just broke. When I hit the sweet spot I crush the ball back with equal or greater velocity and don’t notice the flex.

We were also at a national level tournament recently using the same 360 Speed MP Lite before lockdown. The other 12 year olds were definitely bigger than my son, what we found since my racket was still in his bag (I use a Prestige Tour) when he used my racket he wasn't getting pushed around. The other 12 year olds were using stock non lite rackets and with ball speed/spin they are able to hit the racket probably out of our kids hands. I know my son can swing the Prestige Tour just fine and he doesn't get tired out. He was down 1 - 5 2nd set so he switched to my racket because he had nothing to lose, he ended up losing the 2nd set 6-7 (8-10). Normally I would say racket doesn't make a difference but in this case the twist of the racket hurt them due to stability of the lighter racket. Just some food for thought.

Also we did add roughly 12g to the handle of his Speed MP Lite.

The Gravity S was also on his demo.lost a while ago. Sounds like it holds up to pace well. How is it for control, my only concern would be the 104 head.

Is that the Prestige Tour 295g version with a 99 square inch head?

I’m playing the best tennis of my life in this century!

I played serve & volley back in the late 80s/ early 90s. Then I learned to bash the ball from the baseline.

I can do both games with this racquet and I have the best touch of my life.

I’ve given many racquets a whirl in my life. The only ones that stuck for any period of time were:

Prince Graphite 90 - 25 years
Head Microgel Radical OS - 1 year
Head i.Prestige MP XL - 1.5 years
Prince Mono - 6 years
Head Gravity S - til death do we part!

Based upon the specs, I never thought I’d like a racquet like this in a million years.
