The PRO gets all the love.
The MP is a sleeper, and especially for those who may not realize they can step "down" to a 300 gram stick, and still have excellent stability and control. See my notes for more.
Specs from Head:
Head size: 100 sq inches
Length: 27 inches
Beam Width: 23 mm
Stiffness: 64
Unstrung: 300 grams / 10.6 oz
Strung: 318 grams / 11.2 oz
Balance: 4 Pts Head Light
Swing Weight: 329
Swing Speed: FAST/LONG
Grip Type: HEAD HYDROSORB PRO
Power Level: Low
String Pattern: 16/19
My all black version (made in 2021):
Strung Specs for me:
1.25 Element 53/50 LBS
Weight: 315 grams / 11.11 oz
Balance: 33 1/2 cm
Added an Overgrip:
Weight: 320 grams / 11.29 oz
Balance: 33 1/4 cm
The balance needed a smidge of tweaking, I'm picky. But I don't "do" lead tape.
So I stuck three cotton balls behind the trap door, and now it's 33 cm even
My second all black version (made in 2021):
Strung Specs for me:
1.25 17G Head Lynx Tour 52 LBS
Weight: 314 grams / 11.08 oz
Balance: 33 1/4 cm
Added an Overgrip:
Weight: 319 grams / 11.25 oz
Balance: 33 cm
My white/black version (made in 2020):
Strung Specs for me:
Diadem Elite XT 17 (1.20) 52LBS
Weight: 315 grams / 11.11 oz
Balance: TBD
Added an Overgrip:
Weight: 317 grams / 11.18 oz
Balance: 32 9/10 cm / 4.25 pts head-light
This diadem string is very nice in the MP.
CRAZY spin ability, great playability, no issues with tension after a few weeks (90 mins, 5x a week)!
I do not feel that the MP is string sensitive.
I haven't hit with the element on the MP yet, just strung her up.
My primary thought is this:
This racquet gets my tennis racquet "hat trick" award:
1. comfort - I rate it a 9.5
2. control - I rate it a 10
3. stability - for this being a 300 gram stick, I rate it a 10
For a 300 gram racquet, this has AMAZING stability and incredible comfort and control.
Somehow, this 300 gram racquet has a 329 swing weight, which is right there with the Speed Pro.
However, this one is so much easier to swing, thanks to it's much lower static weight.
It's easy on my wrist and shoulder b/c of this.
The access to spin with this stick is EXCELLENT.
But it's the stability, that is the biggest surprise. I'm a 4.0 hitting vs. a 5.0 female who hits at full blast all the time, think Camila Giorgi.
No issues swinging out, all day, with this 300 gram racquet.
I have been playing with it for a month or so.
Full disclosure, I had also been serious about the new VCore v6, during this time, but have steered away from them (95/98/100). I will probably list a 98 soon.
The 100 is too powerful for me, and the 98 doesn't have enough pop and isn't as comfy as the Speed MP.
The Speed MP, as I stated has excellent control. Therefore it doesn't have too much power. It has that little bit of pop, but with a modern swing - I feel that you can swing out and have 100% perfect control.
For flat hitters, I think this is still worth a demo, for certain.
Previously, I had been playing with the Clash 98 in the autumn. I am very much enjoying a more consistent string bed, with the MP, and the comfort of the MP is nothing to complain about. It feels VERY plush in fact.
I am now hitting my best groundstrokes of my life, with the Speed MP.
The Pro is great too, just that I realized my wrist appreciates the lighter MP.
I was intrigued by the 18x20 of the Pro, but in the end, found the lighter weight and MUCH better access to spin, from the 16x19, more enjoyable.
So, if you're hitting with a 11.5 oz stick (strung) and you either have wrist/elbow/shoulder or stamina issues... you may be able to move down to this, 11.29 oz strung, and still have the same control and plow... while having increased comfort? Just a thought.
I like the new pj. Not sure which one I prefer just yet though.
Thanks for reading, please share your own notes on the MP and pics too.
