Head Graphene Touch Prestige Mid

Has anyone else noticed the Prestige Mid won’t be having cap grommets? Any opinions on this?

My XTPMP has actual Graphene layered grommets with Inegra coated inner sleeves, dampening the vibes by the extra hardened carbon fiber and thinner tube walls.

I’ve been hearing a lot of positive comments about this frame on this forum and in my tennis circle, and some of the feedback is coming from folks who have never played with mid size frames in the past (even Pure Drive players).

I’m just trying to gather some more information that anyone has on how accessible this frame it. For example, as a lifetime 98/100 head size user, am I dreaming to think this frame will be valuable for a counterpunching game?

I have a demo of it coming in a few days, so I will be able to report back anyone cares.

I play with this frame. I came from a 100 inch (pure aero) and a 97 inch head (ultra tour) and landed on this one because of the precision and plow trough. A month after buying one I sold my other frames and bought a second one. I don’t have any problems with the size, maybe my (not so good) backhand shanks a little bit more. But everything else went up a notch with this frame. It serves, slices and hits very precise and with power. I string it hybrid at 25kg.

I went from a 100 babolat to a 93 prince and the game has never been more fun. That says a lot because the pure aero is a really sweet frame, but mids are incredibly fun to compete with.

What did you string it with? I have a GTP Mid and the polys I have tried, tension always low 50-52#, have been "pingy?"

Compete is an interesting point to make. I’m a 4.5 league player and am interested to see what the Head size will do for my margin during tight or long matches. Has going down to a mid changed how you play? pa plus to a 93 is drastic!

I just sold a touch prestige pro, only had it strung with tourbite and it was annoyingly pingy unless I used a really thick dampener like a Wilson heart or a yonex damp. I’ve heard the touch prestige’s are mostly pingy frames unless you use a hybrid or full non-poly.

Yes. I have played it strung with different multis, no pinging.

Yes. I went from topsin highballing to a more varied game. Instead of just hitting deep i slice more and hit more touch. I hit with more force into the corners as well just due to the control i get.

Honestly the game is so much about footwork to me that using a smaller racquet helps keep me moving and setting up to hit on balance.

Alu power in the mains, I'm not sure whats in the crosses because I don't have to ask anymore at the stringer. I will have to check the next time. About the "pinging": yes it does ping when the strings are brand new. It stops pinging after about 2 hours of playing.

Anyone still using this stick, or the 360 version?

I've still got the touch mid in my bag...love it, play well with it, but consistently give myself a hard time for thinking that a 30-something 4.5 counter-pusher should be using a mid. I love how stable and comfortable it is, and yet how modern and spin-friendly the response is. Even though something like a PA+ feels like an easier option for me, this mid is the heaviest thing I've ever been able to swing fast, and i love that. I have a few of them strung in the low 40s with hyper G, feels great.

Swung the 360 for a bit, and it was noticeably stiffer but still solid (not uncomfortable). The strings were pretty tight, so the power comparison was pretty useful. I prefer the flexier feel of the touch.

So you went back to the PA+ I'm guessing. . . I'm pretty much in the same boat. I have a Touch Prestige Mid and enjoy using it (not as much as the Prince 93p 14x18), but find myself going back to the PD since I'm lazy.

I tend to go with my PA+ when the match matters (eg league), but I don’t think it’s always rational. I get easy power and spin with the Bab, so I associate that with more winning, even if my arm hurts after. Whereas with the mid, I can counter punch more accurately, and essentially play the same game. Serve is where I have the most drastic differences...PA is all around bigger and badder, whereas the mid is tough for spin although i get great push through the court on first serves due to the weight.

The best thing would be if somebody mugged me for my PAs and Yonex VC 98+ for a while so i could really see if the head mid could work. I'm too much of an idiot to stick with a frame if I feel like I have an "easy button" backup in the bag.

Copy that, I’m the same way lol
