Head Gravity 98 16x19 (Coming in 2025!)

Yap, my history with gravity line goes far back to the very beginning (I had also Ig speed that Zverev junior was playing with) :) and the Gravity Pro is still in my tournament of frames. Already scheduled a video against the vcore 95.
suits my concept. I hope to get a bit more spin and power out of it compared to the Pro. And I believe that was the goal in general.
Might have to customize it. We will see… too early to say but I am definitely in love with the frame „on paper”.
I also liked the gravity tour 18x/20 but imo it is a bit too anemic. 16x19 might solve it all. I hope the target SW is between 323-328.

Agreed. Really like the idea of 16x19 gravity with 325ish SW.
would like to hear your thoughts and see it in action on your YouTube channel when you are able to!

Both did actually switched to GPro when it was released. Rublev played with 6.1 early in his career. Zverev used early Speed model.

But we will easily see if they continue using 20mm beam 18x20 GPro vs new 16x19 Tour 98. Of course they may get preferred drill pattern on the new frame, but frankly speaking — why would they want to? GPro is great frame suitable for their games.
I could see Rublev changing to a 98, but Zverev has used 100" heads since he was fairly young.

I have one that is intentionally underspec, at 287 unstrung and 321 strung. It’s very stable and hits nicely even underspec!

I wish the beam was thinner to rival the 97 percept at 21 constant. I’d still have to try it but this seems somewhat similar to boom pro at 22 mm. 305 egg shaped head.

I had a chance to hit with the Gravity 98 during a racquet testing day today. I myself play with the GPro Auxetic so clearly I was curious about this one like all of us here. After some few reviews from Henrik and Jonas I didn't expect too much from the frame but I was very pleasantly surprised with the performance I experienced today.
Easy depth with the shots, not bad at all for a OHBH which I play, killer serve that stood out and generally the feel of the racquet is very nice. Compared to GPro it is much stiffer (for sure of course) and it can get a bit heavy or "clunky" by the time of playing - even compared to the GPro that is heavier. For me I guess due the thicker frame and balance more to the head than the GPro I'm used to.

Have to confirm a bit what Jonas mentioned - in defense or when you're tired and cannot hit really on time in front this frame won't help you much.

I can definitely see this as a great seller for Head since it will not hide among other 98 frames in the category. The feel is new to me, I don't know exactly which racquet I would compare it to. I'd say any player above 4.0 will be happy with this one.

Oh...and I talked to the Head rep all day to at least show me the final paintjob :-D and finally she did show it to me on her phone...I guess I cannot reveal that here so if some of you guys are interested...PM me. It does look very nice and the chosen colour might remind you of a different frame from different brand a bit.

It's not red or pink or yellow is it?...

Thanks for sharing. Still don't understand how a slightly thicker beam at lower weight and swing weight, even considering the balance difference, can make it clunky and demanding compared to Gpro.

I totally understand your point - I would have asked the same question. But again, I would say it's because I'm used to the GPro a lot and I generally like the head light balance.

Doesn't adding a leather grip improve the balance and make it more head light?
Yes, that might do the trick :) but I tried it in stock of course without any customization. But again - that was my own perception of the frame. I'm sure many others will love it in stock as it is.

Tennis nerd review

There’s a new review by tenninerd.
Overall says the racket doesn’t play like a classsic gravity and plays with more power and spin with a stiffer feel.
Says it’s more a competitor to PA98.

For personal preferences I like what I’m hearing!

this Tuesday I will have a practice session with a very good player. Taking Gravity 98 with me! Strung it at 22/21kg with Hawk Touch. Review should drop around the weekend.

It's about time. I think the Gravity has been an arm killer because the frame itself lacks pop and then it had the denser pattern in the racquet. So many players I have known thought it was awesome and then chased softer and softer setups.

It might be a decent racquet now with a 16x19 to give rec players some sort of help.

I'm a rec and I've been playing with GPro for like 2 years. It made wonders to my game cause it forced me to commit 100%. But even after all these years together with it, my arm is dying after couple of sets.
I was kinda excited with smaller head size and lower weight but after all these previews saying 98 is even stiffer and heftier that GPro, idk boss. I'll wait for release reviews, but at this point I'd rather go for lower weight 100 Gravity Tour rather than this. At least that'd still be a Gravity.

I guess I didn't know what I was walking about. I was thinking/hoping it was a 100^2.

Like your experience though I do have a few buddies with tender elbows after using the current racquets.

OK, thanks.

Probably higher twistweight. Also more mass in lower hoop area sometimes cause this feeling.

Had this in one of my new Extreme Pros. Gave the racket some good stability and power if you you hit in the middle of the stringbed and in combination with the Aux 2.0 and boardy yet comfortable feeling. But easy of ability to create angles got lost somewhat.

I wanted to probably skip the GT 98, but the Aero 98 comparison sounds interesting as i thought it's supposed to be a blade competitor.
Will be trying to get one Balance underspec/ SW+Static on spec through matching service.

I can relate to your experience very well and yes, the new 98 is definitely stiffer than the actual GPro. The frame is thicker, the balance is different and if you (just like me) love the G Pro feel & sensation at the contact, you will not have it here the same way. Like if they gave me a total blacked out frame, I wouldn´t notice that it´s a Gravity. But again - I believe this is something that Gravity users were asking for...a little bit stiffer (crisper if you want) with 16x19 pattern. So...this is it :)

At the moment I even don´t consider any switch to this one, I just love the GPros a lot these days. But the 98 will be a success for sure.

I don’t know how I feel about that. The GPro feel is what I love about the gravity.

Also, Is this for the Gravity Tour that everyone has been promo’ing or are you evaluating the GPro vs?

Yes, I´m comparing the Gravity Tour 98 which will be released in Jan 25 to the actual GPro Auxetic. You just mentioned that you love the GPro feel - just like me. So you will not feel the same with this new GTour 98. I guess you just cannot easily transfer this unique feel from the GPro to a frame from a different mold :) the beam profile is different, frame is thicker to make it more crisp...but for guys who like PA98 or a Vcore/EZ 98 this one will be great.

Some of the guys who tried it with me said it´s a more user friendly Blade.

What's the advantage over pa 98? I went from Gpro to PA 98. Can't use stiff poly main in PA 98. If it's a softer pa 98, then I'm definitely interested. Not seen RA number for Gtour 98. But PA 98 is pretty tough to beat in other areas.

Depends what you are missing at the PA98 :) I remember the time when I had the PA98 for a short time period that I didn´t like the 16x20 pattern:
- haven´t figured how not to hit into the net FH down the line (my own bad technique and lack of time and patience)
- felt that it was more demanding to my level at that time
- stiffness was a bit higher than comfortable for me
- had problems how to dial the serve (which is my biggest weapon)

I was asking the tennis shop guys about the RA of the new GTour 98 but they didn´t know either (silly as it sounds...) but to me it was nice, no harsh feelings on the arm whatsoever.
The GTour will be definitely more spin friendly - 16x19 to 16x20 - and less harsh than the PA98 from my perception. Also...the serve stood out a lot for me!

And since you´re not that loyal to any brand as you mentioned - I recommend you to try it ;-)

One of things people say about PA 98 — it’s quite demanding in terms of sweetspot. Gravity, if it carries any degree of Pro DNA, might possess expanded sweetspot, more so with 16x19 pattern. Being firmer than original 100 sq.in Gravities also stands for some stability.

But we’ll see when it’s out to the market!

PA 98 sweet spot is definitely not smaller than that in my 2021 Gpros.

isn't this lower than Gpro? I think I saw reports saying 98 feels crisp compared to Gpro... Maybe I will just wait for reviews after the release.
Feel and flex don't always goo hand-by-hand... Can be flexy throat, for example. But we'll see, 60RA unstrung seems really low, Prince Phantom territory.

But overall 60 RA in a 22mm beam promises to be quite arm-friendly.

I have a friend who is trying this 98 with me and she has quite a sensitive arm. She is currently using the Gravity MP. I don't know her full thoughts on it, but it is ok for her arm as is the MP.

Tennisnerd's review already stated that the racket is quite a bit more stiff than Gpro. He gives a warning that players who generally have issue with TE or other pains with rackets like PA 98 will prob have issues with the tour 98 as well.
