Head Gravity 98 16x19 (Coming in 2025!)

I reached out to Henrik about his 1st impressions, tldr:
Actually crisp (not mushy/noodly), nice connected feel, good sound on impact; more powerful and bite than Blade 98; overall better and more feel than new Extreme Pro

Honestly sounds like a dream 98 stick to me!

Now this sounds like good influence/content marketing, I approve! Wanna try, wanna buy!

Isn't a bit too early for reviews? It is expected in 2025 and we have still 3 months to go.
For instance we don't have a single clue for new pure drive but seen almost everything about this stick (I'm not complaining btw, glad we didn't wait for 2025)

I don't think i know what the intent is with the Tour anymore.
Originally as a 305 100sq.in 18x20, it was on paper an easier to handle version of the Pro.
This new version is basically an MP with 2sq.in and 1 cross less...
Honestly the same with the Prestige line where the (current) Tour is 95sqin and the Pro is 98sqin, but the Tour is supposed to have more pop than the Pro, with the open pattern? And even then, theres now a 16x19 Pro so

Sounds like they copied the RF01! With a bit more mass and dampening. Quite surprised this isn't thinner-beamed like the other 'players' Gravities.

And in practice the Tour was mostly a more controlled MP rather than an easier to handle GPro. The GPro feels so much different (and better, for me), that I was hoping for GPro-elements in this 98.

It’s a shame if that’s the case when they could dedicate their resources to either releasing Djokovic’s racquet or copying frames people actually like.

No clue about the new gravity but the prestige tour is a completely different mold and layup than the pro. Very different sticks.

Gotta start hyping it before it releases, 3 months is the perfect time to get people talking before buying

The increase in crispness would seem to imply that it's got less dampening than it's predecessor.

Would be hard not to. But still probably more than the RF01.

Pretty sure this is going to be the Gravity Tour layup in a 98. I had the recent 100 and the feel is good, but it's not as connected as old Head frames. I know Dr loved it, but I much prefer the feel of the PT 2.0 and the Mid 2.0. So that auxetic muted feel is still there, and as a result it will be a pass from me.

The Tour 100 is a good frame though. Compared to most modern offerings, it is a great feel. Compared to classic frames, it's not quite there - imo. I feel the same way about the latest Prestige Pro.

Between Gravity Pros 360+ and Auxetic I own, first one is obviously more raw flex and feel. But Aux one is just a tad more friendly and overall preferred for matchplay. No unnecessary shock, more stability.

So the new one is of great interest to me, but who knows how I will like it in real life.

Was there a big difference between non-auxetic and auxetic? I've only tried the non-auxetic pro and tour and they were already not that connected in feel. Manageable though with some string tweaking I'd assume.

Is the expected launch date really about 3 months from now?

It’s not similar to RF01. The RF have a much smaller sweetspot and needs lead and very low tension. Then the RF01 is a really good frame for me. The gravity 98 needs a bit higher tension for me and my game (like + 2 lbs compared to my normal 48 lbs and the Rf I play in like 38-40 lbs)

The sweetspot of the gravity 98 is much bigger then RF01. Pretty high launch angle when I’m looking at my videos using it. This racquet could potentially be a best-seller for Head as it will attract a lot of different players. It’s just players hitting very flat that will struggle a bit with length control I would say.

Me and Jonas did a pod about it earlier today and I have sent him footage from first test yesterday. Video will be out within next 24 hours.

Not huge but it got more muted than less.

You also played with Gravity Pro 16x19, when you compare these two which one is more powerful?

Thanks for the info. I must admit I didn't find any issues with the RF01 or RFPro's sweet-spots, but perhaps that's because I am a flat hitter. Launch angle makes sense given the open string-bed. I'm pretty sure RF02 will have a wider set-up!

Can you tell how it compares to Blade 100 or even Blade 16x19?

Thanks for early thoughts, much fun to get them :giggle:

Gravity line is/was different because of combo 100 head and 18x20 or 16x20, with thin beam/classic flex…

With this upcoming 98, the frame will fall in the realm of so many 98`s that are in the market already, beginning with Head own models to the others…

Not really interested event trying it, and if the paint stay like this, will just stock up on Auxetic Pro`s when they are on the sale …

What head need to do is to have a gravity pro with a sw of 330 and a static weight of 310 to finaly be playable by amateurs. Now gravity line from "massive sweetspot" goes into 98

Is that because Roger feels it will better suit his game and do a video on it :)

In this episode of Tennis Nerd...
Jonas messes up his part of the recording.
Henrik says "hawk tuah" and highly praises the Gravity 98 and, more importantly even, the upcoming cosmetics

The gravity pro pro stock 16/19 is much softer feel/flex. The g. Pro plays better with 18/20. It’s simply to open 16/19 pattern in it. The strings moves around like crazy.

About the blade 16/19 and Blade 100.

G.tour 98 is (for me and after 90 minutes of tennis..) better. I feel the blade 98 is too demanding for me in the long run.
The Blade 100 has a bigger sweetspot than g.tour 98. Spin and power about the same.

Sorry for the Hawk Tuah but it’s to good to miss when stringing hawk touch..

The new pj is amazing. You will understand when you see it. Glossy..
Talking about super-nice cosmetics. have a look at the new Black Ace 97 from Pro Kennex

Seems like everyone's going for the black and grey with the creme de la creme offerings in their lineup (RF, Regna, Speed Legend)

What do you mean the blade 98 is too demanding? Not a doubt, just a question of what that means for you? I use the blade 98 v9, very nice racket for me, so I am wondering how the Gravity 98 would be playing in comparison if it is less demanding.

Henrik as you really like the 99 Nordic how’s the comparison between gravity snd 99 Nordic apart from the sound off the racquet etc you illude to in video .

Do you use Nordic in matches, has it done well for you ?
