head guard tape for changing from dunlop to prince grip shape

Unlike many, I love the prince grip shape. I have tried a bunch of different ways to mod my dunlop to have a more prince like grip shape, and it always felt a little weird. However, I recently tried one strip of Head head guard tape on bevels 3 and 7, and it feels natural and gives a close approximation of the prince feel. No trimming required, and although it covers the bevel edges, the bevel feel is still there (I have also changed the base grip to a yonex super leather thin PU grip). I have done similar things with layers of masking tape and electrical tape, and it never felt right. Don't really know why this works, but thought I'd share for anyone who loves their dunlop but doesn't love the grip shape.

You could also use hockey tape for building up the grip and head protection. It’s cheaper and leaves little or no residue. I’ve used a single strip of hockey tape in lieu of lead to increase SW 6 points.

I mostly just use industrial electrical tape to mould grip shapes; it's about twice as thick as standard household electricians tape, and still rather affordable.
I prefer the opposite nowadays, and like more of a HEAD tk82 grip shape. I literally have the opposite as my O3 Prince Tour has a TK82 pallet on it.
I use mainly blu tack to test for swingweight, then put lead tape in the hoop. It just lasts longer than putting tape outside the hoop, which has to be removed when stringing anyways.

I like using head guard tape for modifying handle shape too. It's pretty lightweight, easy to re-apply and the thickness is just perfect. Successfully made TF40 grip feel much more natural for my hand with 1 layer on the top & bottom bevels.
