Head Hawk vs Touch vs Kirschbaum Pro Line Evolution vs other string suggestions?

Hi guys,

Ended up with these strings for my 2015 Blade's 18x20.

I would love to get a comparison with these strings and maybe some suggestions? Why would I pick the HH over the HHT? Some good tension maintenance would be awesome. And was wondering if the 1.20 or 1.25 would be optimal in a 18x20.

Thanks in advance for your time!

I've heard touch is crap. Look at isospeed grey fire, honestly a better string than head hawk, and also made by head.

Hawk is a decent string at control, tension maintenance but not feel and ball grab. Grey fire beats it at that.

What made you settle with these strings?

I thought these would be great options tbh haha. So as I said; any suggestions are welcome! But grey fire is great stuff you say?

physical properties-wise, you couldn't pick three more similar strings. Kind of annoying that TWU didn't test Hawk Touch 17.

Fair enough, give em a try I guess. They're all kinda dead playing, control strings as you'd expect from a poly. I was very disappointed with touch, just didn't feel connected or in control of the ball. And I think a few people have said the same.

If you or someone else has any other suggestion ofcourse let me know! Thanks guys

I’ve only played with HT and evo in a full bed, but if those two HT is very crisp but doesn’t last as long (playability wise). Evo is great because it will never give you arm pain, but I don’t like the way it plays out of the box. After the first hour or two it’s a great poly.

I hybrid with hawk a lot now and actually have been preferring it over evo lately as it’s more crisp and lasts the life of the mains.

Ultimately if I had to play a full bed of the three, I’d chose evo. But for a hyrbrid I think hawk is my go to.

Do you think the gauge is a factor? I am thinking 1.20 or 1.25mm

Hawk feels stiffer than Touch especially when hitting hard, but still at the same time hawk loses its spin potential - and on the other hand when hitting slow, hawk feels disproportionately powerful and elastic. I hate Hawk. Touch is much better overall and more balanced: better access to spin and control of the power.

Evolution feels like I’m playing paddle ball even at lowish tensions. Might be something to do with it being prestretched, but that’s just a guess.
I’m keeping my reel for mainly multi/syn gut hybriding

You mean it being very stiff and board-like? What gauge do you use? Was thinking of 1.25 but maybe 1.20 is better due to lower stiffness? Or will it be too springy

I have the 1.25. Ive tried everywhere from low 40s to mid 50s. The only racquet I enjoyed it in was the hybrid i recently did. I still kept it in the mains, but a little SG in the crosses helped tremendously. Next one I do, it’s going in the crosses with SG in the mains. Hoping that helps even more.

Anybody know which kirschbaum has better tension maintenance between pro line 2 and pro line evolution?

according to the TWU db, definitely evolution
