Head Liquidmetal Radical MP Problem

Hi all

Just a quick one.
I have being using head Radicals since the Flexpoint radical and I really do love them. I have tried plenty of other racquets but always go back to the radicals. I love the control and flex the radicals offer.

Anyways, I have 2 mp ig radicals, 2 mp youtek radicals, 1 mp flexpoint and I recently just bought 2 mp liquidmetal radicals second hand from an online auction site. I demoed the liquidmetal radicals today and couldn't believe how hollow and underpowered the racquet is compared to the versions i'm currently using. Is this normal or have I bought a dodgy racquet? It almost feels like the racquet is dead and has no flex? It also makes a strange 'twonk' sound at the very top of the stringbed rather than a 'ping' - is the sweetspot smaller?

Would love to hear your experience with this frame. Cheers!

The LM Radical MP are suppose to be stiffer, heavier and have higher SW than successor generations. That's according to Racquetfinder and what people have told me when they went from LM to MG Radicals. I would suggest you measure the mass and balance points; also obtain SW. I always felt that LM series were more raw feeling (Like!) vs later gens because they were more muted.

The LM radical MP is pretty light and hollow feeling for a dense-pattern Midplus, it doesn't have enough weight in the throat and handle. You can put some silicone in the handle to give you a much more solid feel. Then you can also add some lead to the hoop to raise the SW. I think these older Radicals were made for customizing.

Otherwise the racket has a pretty generous sweetspot, once you add some lead to the hoop. Twistweight is good.

Thanks for your help guys. I'll give them another try and see if I can get used to the feeling. I'm not a fan of stiff frames so maybe that's the problem.

Nice. I know the area but not familiar with the club.

I'm playing and coaching at both Caulfield Park Tennis Club and Aspendale Tennis Club. Both clubs are building up nicely and we have quite a few juniors coming through which is good. Australian Open starting soon so everyone is full of enthusiasm.

Yea when I arrived in Melbourne I was doing a bit of this at Fitzroy TC and it was always good fun. If i'm ever up near Surrey Hills I will make sure to pop in.
