Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

And here we are. Lynx Tour 125 in Orange on top of RPM Rough Red in a HEAD Radical MP ltd:

Comfortable(RPM Rough is softer than Lynx Tour), good power, very good spin and control, and long lasting as the friction is rather low.
I use this combo in everything aside from my o3, which I bump the power using GoMax instead of RPM Rough.
Thanks! I think I will try this hybrid. Recently switched to the new strike 98. I liked the RPM rough in it, but it's a little lively. I historically liked Lynx Tour as well, so this hybrid might be a good fit.

I liked this combo in the last version of the PS98. I imagine it would be comfy in the newest, more flexible version.

You string them same tension or 2lbs difference?
That depends. If I am in competition, and it is warm, I will go 1kg difference. In competition, I will usually restring the night before the match every match. If I am just practicing with it and will be leaving it in the racquet for a month or so, or if it is cold out like now and I will be using much lower tensions, I string them the same as the RPM loses tension faster. And if it is cold out, the low tensions give me all the movement and pocketing I need without having to stagger tension. That Radical, and my Extreme Tour are at 20kg in this weather(damp and 4-12*C). In summer that can be as high as 24kg.

ETA, the reason for such a wide range of tension there is we rarely play indoors. So, not only will the strings be less pliable at the low temperatures, but the rubber in the ball will be more stiff, and the air is thicker and usually more damp. So the balls are harder and heavier, the air is more dense, and the strings less lively. Using lower tensions like 20-21kg really helps move the ball along and lessens the shock at impact. We have fast courts, so once it warms up, you need a bit more control than power.

1 year using Polytour Strike/Polytour Pro hybrid and loving it, now strung my vc95 with Head Lynx Tour and wow just fantastic string I forgot for a while why this is my favourite string.
My only string moving forward.
What tension are you using? I felt a flat trampoline instead of ball Pocketing at 52 or 54lbs, makes it lack of control

Tried a full bed of Lynx Tour 1.25mm in my Prostaff 97L today. Felt more muted than i would like.

I know Head Lynx Tour is not a round poly, but considering the edges aren't that pronounced, would it be acceptable to use it in a hybrid with natural gut in the mains?

Yes easily, but Lynx Tour is very slippery, and maintains that slickness over its life, so gut will move a lot. If you don't string gut tight enough, then when Lynx Tour loses some tension, gut will lift the ball higher, you'll get higher launch angle and you'll feel that you need to spin to control the ball trajectory

There is a lot of difference in 1,25 with 1,20 in terms of power, effects and comfort??
I noticed a difference in comfort… sometimes I would get soreness from 1.25, never from 1.2. Also, 1.2 minimizes the swing weight increase which is big with LT. it’s a heavy string.

Question for those of you who ordered Lynx Tour 1.20 from that "Advantage You" site in EU: How long did it take to get your order? I placed an order nearly a month ago and it has been stuck somewhere between DHL in Germany to the USPS handoff. I suspect the parcel ended up going ocean freight but curious if others have had this issue.

On that note, any idea if/when LR 1.20 might be available in the USA?
I had it shipped to Toronto, Canada where I live and it took just over a month. Looking forward to playtesting it as I am am full bed 52/48, 17g Silver user for the last two years.

hmm.. ordered champagne reel of Lynx Tour, but got black Lynx Tour...

played before with silver and champagne, i liked both, and that is why order a new reel... no idea that black existed...

should i send it back, or there isn't much of a difference ?

I would send it back - although I haven’t tried black, everyone says it’s “deader” than silver and champagne (I like those two plus the orange)

My experience with the same string black vs silver is the black does play a bit stiffer, which I preferred. I have not used Lynx Tour yet. ALU Power black seemed a bit stiffer and held tension better than the classic silver which gets spongy in no time.

I cut black out after one hit... dead, stiff, uncomfortable. grey and champagne much better

which is better for spin and power potential ?? Lynx tour or Lynx ? and is there difference in how it plays with different colorways ? i think Lynx comes in yellow, green, black and something else

What is your take on gray vs champagne? I will be using the sets I purchased from you in the next week or so.
Grey is more crisp, not quite as crisp as Tour Bite or BHS7T, but crisp. Champagne is more muted/quiet like hyper g/confidential. They play the same, but the feel/feedback is just a little different. Lynx tour holds its tension very well and is very resistant to notching. I really like lynx tour crossed with hawk touch, great combo!

Lynx is softer with more power and a little bit less spin. Tension maintenance is terrible.
Lynx Tour is control oriented with less power, more spin and better tension maintenance.
The brighter the color, the livelier.

@ClownCar96 what frame do you use the Lynx Tour / Hawk Touch in? I have Lynx Tour 1.25 and Hawk Touch 1.25 and very curious to try this in my PAVS. I am not sure what tension to go with or if this setup would work well in it. Currently, I have BHS7T 1.25 in mains and OEHMS Pearl Rough 1.25mm in crosses at 56/53. Could go down in tension.

My main frame these days is Blade 98 V8 Noir. I've been using LT 1.2 crossed with HT 1.25 at 52/50. Awesome combo for my game in this frame. Can play the power/spin game but also can play the touch/feel game. I might try LT 1.25/HT 1.25 next for giggles and grins to see if it gives me even even more control but I've been using LT 1.2 because i have a reel and I find no arm discomfort in that gauge. I will likely remove the lead in the frame if I do this to see how it plays. My blade specs are 334g, 324 SW, 32 cm balance. I really like the HT cross, it gives almost a gut/syn gut cross feeling with that pocketing but without the trampoline effect, and it's not mushy which I hate. The main string slides beautifully on the slick HT and both don't notch very easily.

ah how I wish I could get my hands on a LT 1.20 reel. I just cannot find one online. Maybe I will try LT 1.25 in mains at 52lbs and Hawk Touch in crosses at 52 as well in my PAVS.

Amazon Germany has reels of 1.2. You can use your regular amazon account. Shipping isn’t bad, ~$10. I think it’s still cheaper than a 1.25 reel in the US! It arrives in about a week!

Dude, thank you! I finally figured out how to switch to Germany through my US based Amazon account and see it now - you're the best!

Awesome! enjoy access to the super fantastic LT 1.2!! They don't have champagne color, just grey and black I think. I got my champagne reel from another euro tennis site.

last time I ordered it came to $130 shipped. Another order from late last year was only $115 shipped, so it went up a bit

How does grey and black play compared to champagne? I want the crispiest one!

Hi Everyone,
On the new Boom Pro 2024, which Lynx Tour would you recommend? Black or Grey? And what differences are there between the various colours?
