Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

What tension ? You use and frame

What colour

When you say playability you mean it played well for long time ?
Blade 100 v9, Lynx Tour 17g at 48lbs gray.

I thought the strings played phenomenally. Tons of grip, bite and control. But my hand was killing me after an hour.

Actually not true stepping on it doesn’t settle straight away

Takes a bit of time really annoying , I don’t know how pro players play with it freshly strung as it’s so boardy and horrible and lacking power until it settles
I do not feel, it needs settling.
For me it plays perfect from first hit. :)

Can someone tell me why lynx tour "feels" more soft than Hgs? I believe stiffness is much higher in the lynx tour. I ve been using Hgs lately because my arm was hurting a bit but having tried this string it feels soft and nice even from the start (no break in unlike hyperg). Both at 48lbs.

Because it's very slick, not only when new but maintains its slickness over time, so when you hit, main strings easily move to the sides, that gives you some elastic cushioning. However Hyper G soft is very soft, material itself is soft, dampened and a bit mushy, and deadish, low powered, so even if it's softer that most polys, if you have to swing harder it will perhaps feel more difficult to play with

Watching Paris Bercy — Taylor Fritz’s strings seem a bit…champagne colored? Anyone know if he’s switched to Lynx Tour?

I bought a 2024 Speed MP that was strung with Lynx Tour 1.25 Champagne. I found the MP too muted and I know reviews have talked about the 2024 being more muted than the 2022 MP (which I’ve not tried, mainly a pro staff user). Just wondering how muted is Lynx Tour so I can figure out how much of my experience is down to racket, string, or both.

Seeking feedback so I can decide whether it is worth it to put my preferred set of strings on the racket or just move it along.

Recent polys I’ve played with: Black Knight 1.18 / Ghostwire 1.17, Hyper G, Max Power 1.25 / Ghostwire 1.17, Tour M8 1.25, Paradox Pro 1.26, Tour Sniper 1.25.

I would 100% put your preferred strings on the racquet with your own tension before making that decision.

As dmtree before me has suggested, try exact same (string) setup on both racquets (if you have that option). I personally don't find HLT muted at all.

Just wondering about the consensus on the qualities of the Lynx Tour. I am playing it for a few months now and for me it excels in not having any real weaknesses. I think it has average power for a poly, average comfort, average control, good spin, good tension maintance and playability duration.

So for the regulars on this thread, is this a shared consensus on this string or is it something else?

For me, the control is better than average, I find it precise and predictable on par with the best.

I would go so far as to say that it actually packs monstrous spin and power. Based on my experience with Head Speed MP 2022 and Speed MP Legend even with Blade V9 98 16x19 a full bed of LT 1.25 Champagne can crush baseline strokes and returns with great RPMs.

Thanks for the replies folks! To clarify what I meant with "average control" is that if I put f/e a Luxilon 4G in my racket it will have more control for the first few hours. Looking back at it I also underplayed this sentence "good tension maintance and playability duration.". For me it excels in remaining consistant and reliable for a very long period. Maybe this is a better description haha.

Still key for me is: "for me it excels in not having any real weaknesses"

Does this make more sense @dmtree @Fighting phoenix ?

I recently tried the champagne 1.25 in a sand beige Vcore 98, which both looks awesome and played great...I have almost a full reel of orange 1.20 LT, and even though I know this has been litigated many times on these boards, is there a significant playability difference between champagne and orange? I kinda want to invest in champagne, but already having so much orange makes me think it would be more fiscally sound to just use that.

I have one reel of Champagne 125 and a reel of orange 120. They play very differently to me. I like the response of champagne more.

Good to know ... also have a Champagne 17g reel and tested the 18g (only seen it carried and sold in packs @ TW) ... prefer the 17g Champagne

Did you test the 18g champagne or other colors? I haven't tried 18g champagne yet, couldn't find it anywhere last time I checked.

Are people fans of head Lynx tour/head hawk touch hybrid? I’m loving Lynx tour 17g full bed 50lbs in the 2024 speed mp, wondering if there’s anything to be gained from a different cross!

Yeah I think it’s a great hybrid - softens up the string bed a bit and slightly bigger sweet spot

what tension should i try for the LT/HHT hybrid combo? I have broken twice the HHT when strung under 24kg. and i think that LLT plays much better when strung around 18-21 kg. So how would u go about stringing these two? LT Mains, HHT Crosses on a Head Speed MP Legend?

I'm using LT on the mains with a Head Speed MP 2024 and really like it. I am recovering from shoulder surgery and have been dealing with shoulder pain. Hoping the string is not aggravating is because I really like the control and feel I get from LT Champagne. If anyone knows of a similar string that's softer on the arm, please let me know

If I would compare 4G and HLT, I would say the later is a bit more powerful however the control is gained via additional spin. I guess it you hit flatter 4G, if you control the ball with spin HLT. Both strings are top notch, at the end it comes down to personal preference.

Depends what you are looking for? As somebody already mentioned, if you want to soften up the stringbed or/and gain more power than HHT or HHP would be my first suggestion. If you want less power than those than try HH. Start with the same tension and adapt accordingly if needed.

A Chinese netizen asked Musetti's coach before the Chengdu Open about Musetti's string configuration, and the answer he got was that Musetti used Hawk Rough instead of Hawk Touch.

Thats true, he doesnt use hawk touch. But hawk rough is the rough version of hawk touch, so its close.

I thought hawk rough was the rough version of hawk. But tbh, I don’t think hawk rough plays close to either hawk or hawk touch. They feel like three different strings to me. Similar to rpm blast and rpm rough, they’re very different.

@K1Y - Hawk Rough is the rough version of regular Hawk, not Hawk Touch. Correction: Hawk Rough apparently is Hawk Touch Rough. And even though discontinued, apparently it will be reintroduced as Hawk Touch Rough.

As for Lynx Tour, I would say it's a good to great string, especially in Champagne and Gray, which are firm and crisp, and help add feel back into muted/muffled frames (which, sadly, is a majority of them these days).
