Head Lynx Tour - Official Thread

Hi guys
I'm currently on LT Champagne 1.25 23/22kg strung at my Head Speed MP Legend 2k25
Kinda like it but I'm looking for something a bit more lively and with better feedback & crisp

Is there a chance switching to the black version could help with achieving that?

Thanks in advance
I switched from black to grey and black is IMO less lively

strung my CX 400 tour up with lynx tour champagne 1.25 48lb, lovely and crisp string. i've just started playing again after a long break. previous string was yonex pt pro, then for the first few months head lynx because it was apparently the closest thing my shop had to pt pro. this may be the first time i've played with a stiff poly. it does feel a bit fat for a 1.25 string like it will never snap. might go down to 46 lb next time. the standard lynx was so mushy it became unbearable to play with after 10 hours. could someone recommend something which is like the lynx tour that actually plays like a 1.25, not 1.30?

Straight off the bat, PTP is nothing like Head Lynx Tour, so whoever gave you that information is misinformed. You might want to try Toroline O-Toro Tour 1.23mm for a less dense/fat version of Head Lynx Tour. Once my reel of Head Lynx Tour is finished, I’m buying a reel, it’s just a shame it’s expensive for just a 100m reel. My stringer has a subscription to racketpedia and this plots very close to if not better than Head Lynx Tour. If you use the Tennis Warehouse string compare tool, you will find they are quite similar.

they said PTP was similar to Head Lynx original. but yeah it was sketchy and frustrating. thanks! how abouts solinco confidential, if so which gauge should i try for the less dense / fat version of the 1.25 LT?

Having only used Confidential 1.25mm, I found it quite a harsh metallic feeling string. I can’t remember if I tried the 1.20mm, but that might be a shout, all depends on the racket and string pattern. I’ve been using Head Lynx Tour champagne 1.25mm for a couple of years now having tried the Lynx Tour equivalents i.e. Confidential, TF4S in my VCore 95 2021 and 2023 rackets but in my VCore 98 Tour, I’m looking for a lighter string hence found O-Toro Tour 1.23mm works better in the Tour.

Strung up LT 1.25 champagne mains with Prince SG Duraflex 1.25 crosses at 48/50 lbs after rummaging around my scrap string box for hybrid candidates. Rallied for an hour and was pleasantly surprised how much I like it. Crispy pop on impact even in a Clash 98v2.

Off to order a few more sets while they're on sale ...

i'm now testing confidential 1.25 it seems more powerful than lynx tour, which was extremely dead from my experience.

As mentioned earlier, all depends on the racket, string pattern. Feel is subjective. For instance, I have reel of Lynx Tour 1.25 grey, which feels less lively than the equivalent in champagne in my VCore 95 2023, a 61 RA racket and a 16x20 string pattern. You will need to experiment with tension as this will have an impact on feel too.
