Head Lynx Tour v.s. Solinco Hyper G

These guys are neck and neck... almost identical on paper. Even when it comes to price. I guess it all comes down to "feel". Which do you prefer and why? I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss.

Biggest difference is you can choose preferred color for Lynx Tour, if you don’t like the bright green of Hyper-G. Playability-wise they’re super similar, maybe tad more lively for hyper-g. Also read that Lynx tour runs a bit thicker/heavier at same gauge, I do think hyper-g starts moving and breaks a bit faster but both are good enough as poly.

I prefer lynx tour out of the gate. It’s more crisp and responsive. I find it closer to alu power than hyper g. However I think hyper g lasts longer, and I realize I’ll probably be a minority with that statement.

I love both of them at 1.25 but I do love confidential 1.25 more. Hyper g - too much launch angle for me , Lynx tour - not so much spin potential. Confidential - more spin than Lynx tour and lower launch angle than Hyper g

But Confdential is stiffer and lower powered than both Hyper G and Lynx Tour. Which isn't a good thing. At least imo.

I like Lynx Tour better for a couple of reasons. It has a lower launch angle than HyperG and the launch is more predictable than HyperG. It may hit a little less spin at the beginning than HyperG. Biggest advantage is that Lynx Tour is much more resistant to notching than HyperG— at least with the champagne color. I haven’t tried any other color of Lynx Tour. I will say that Lynx Tour is a very heavy string. It added 2-3 points of swing weight to my racquets over other polys.

Hyper G (or Confidential) in the mains with Lynx Tour crosses. Great hybrid of a sharp edged main for ball bite and snap back facilitated by a lightly shaped, slick cross. No need to choose one or the other.

Maybe it’s the 2 lbs difference in tension between the two when I tested, but Lynx felt much stiffer to me and also offered less power. Based on what I’m seeing here, I might give it another go at the same tension as hyper g when I restring.

Edit: Also, Lynx Tour doesn’t come in 1.20, which is annoying. That could possibly help and explain differences between the two

A buddy of mine who was going between the two ended up preferring and sticking with Lynx Tour.

Hyper G was not elbow friendly to me. No issues with Lynx Tour. Curious to try out hyper G soft but lynx tour has suited me well for months now
