Head Prestige MP (2023) vs Nordic Dots 98 Pro (vs Yonex Percept 100D ?)

Hello All,

I think this could be an interesting topic of comparison and I'm curious to hear from folks who have tried these frame.

On paper, they seem to "broadly" share the same specs and have somewhat similar DNA i.e. 18x19 control sticks with a bit of ooomph.

Additionally, Prestige MP may not stick around if Head decides to axe it next year. If comparable to the ND98P and Percept 100D, maybe worth picking some up particularly if they start to get heavily discounted.

My supposition is the ND98 plays like the Tfight ISO, high swingweight, low static, a little sluggish but can crush the ball.
I have not used this racquet just based off reading. I have used the Tfight ISO 305 and other of the Tfight 305's.

I have used the other two

100D excellent but a little unstable and too light in stock form. I had a little arm fatigue. Against heavy hitters you get a little too much vibration, a little lead would easily fix it and make it a nice easy swinging and powerful frame. I'd like it to be softer but that's a personal preference. I used it with a stiffer string too, LT demo so I didn't have a chance to restring it or add lead. I'd say the lead would probably smooth it out so it didn't feel quite as stiff.

Prestige MP, at least the Aux 2, was pretty muted and low powered. Trajectory was pretty flat but I think the one I used was strung at like 52lbs. I think you could open it up by stringing at 45lbs with a more direct/crisp feeling string but if I wanted one of these I'd go back to the 360+ or even Graphene Touch version. They had lower swingweight but far better and more direct feeling, I used both of those versions for a bit.

Of the 3, I'd go with the 100D, I have faith that a little, 3-5g, lead and a leather grip would fix the stiffer feel as would some medium to soft strings at a more modest 48-50lbs tension.
I don't care about the prior cracking, that's why you have warranty and buy from a reputable shop.

Agreed with the above regarding the prestige, definitely a more muted and plush experience compared to the crispy but comfy experience of the ND98P.

The Prestige won’t do you a ton of favors in the power department but that’s not why you’re swinging it: you wield it for its precision and control. Big pace comes in, you can absorb and redirect with ease.

The 98P still falls more on the powerful side of the spectrum, able to really crunch balls when going in with a full swing. Volleys are point and shoot, the ball screams out of the stringbed on firm contact. That extra power comes with some extra responsibility: off center hits and mistimed shots are punished harder than the prestige, where off center usually just leaves a ball short.

If you play more hitting through the back of the court, the 98P will do everything you need it to and more. If you play more hitting off the sides of the court, Prestige will give you a more pleasant experience. They’re both great frames, so really you can’t go wrong with either.

For me the prestige MP was a bit of a log to swing, but might have been an u lucky draw from the shelf. Although, the swingweight was ~332, the same swingweight with my TFight ISO305 (haven’t tried the updated version) felt easier to manoeuvre. The 100D is even easier to swing, but indeed needed a little weight at 10 and 2 to increase stability. This one for me has the highest launch of the three. Haven’t tried the ND98Pro, but would love to try it.
