Head Prestige Pro (16x19 MP version) differences?

4sound

Semi-Pro
Not to be confused with the old classic midsize Head Prestige Pro. (Great racket BTW!)

I briefly played with the Microgel version of the Prestige Pro MP (16x19) when it 1st came out but want to know if there is anyone out there that knows & can provide their opinions between the different Prestige Pro versions. (MG, YT, YTIG, Graphene, Graphene XT).
Not interested in the "S" or 18x20 comparisons.

From different threads I've read in reviews it looks like the Graphene versions became weighted more polarized and many like the YTIG version.

I really liked the YTIG alot more than the Graphene and XT Graphene. Never played with The MG or YT but have hear the YT was also good.

The YT version is rather on the stiff and heavy side, if you like that sort of thing.

it also feels a bit head-heavy given the weight behind it, so I found it too much racquet.

I have the mg, G and Gxt version prestige pro.(love to get a first gen prestige pro haha but those are collector’s item)
Only the graphene version came with a leather grip, so I swapped out the synthetic grip for leather on both mg and Gxt version and customized all to equal swing-weight and balance.
Impressions:
mg is the most stable version and also the most bulky to swing.
G is very muted and has a polarized feel. Also tend to flex in the upper hoop.
Gxt is extremely polarized, crisp feeling and the most powerful. It has the highest swingweight before customization.

Very succinctly put. I have played with all three and I agree. I too added leather grips to both my Microgels. I have one gently used YTIG PP and one gently used YT PP on the way as well so hopefully I can add a bit more info here once I hit with those two.

Enjoy the IG PP, was a very nice frame IMO. Loved it on serve, hits precise and heavy.

Thanks for all the responses. One of my students is demoing rackets and really likes the GXT PP so I wanted to get some opinions of people who use the PP as their racket of choice.

Back in the day when I played competitively I would keep a 1 new spare unstrung at home just in case my rackets were lost or stolen. When I switched to a different frame, I would sell the 4-5 I used and forgot about the a new spare. I thought I might have a MGPP & looked in my basement yesterday. I found 4 new unstrung rackets: the MGPP, an i.Prestige MP, a Prestige Tour MP (102) and a Pro Stock TGK237.2 (MG Paint Prestige Mid 16x19).

I'm stringing up the MGPP tonight and will compare to my students GXT demo this weekend.

So I play tested the (new/old stock) MGPP vs the GXT PP.
IMO the GXT PP feels easier to swing, stiffer and more powerful off the string bed. But with that, its a bit erratic to place the ball when I go for it on groundies.

The MGPP feels heavier to swing but solid, plush & controlled. It's a bit more demanding (vs the GTX) but rewarding when you keep your strokes honest & true.
