Head Prestige Tour 600 (Mid): European Bumper/Grommet?

Hello,

I have been using the Head Prestige Tour 600 / Prestige Tour Mid / Prestige Classic / [insert any other name for this frame here] since 1993 and have only recently discovered (duhhh) that the European version(s) of this frame didn't have the full-length C.A.P. bumper/grommet, but rather a C.A.P. bumper of more conventional size, coupled with a conventional grommet. Exactly like the type used on my old beloved Head Elite Pros (circa 1989), only black plastic, instead of white (long live the Miami Vice racket look!).

I never have liked the full-length bumper guards on these Prestige frames.

So, if these do indeed exist, where can I buy a couple of these??? Can someone direct me to a good source online or mail-order? THANKS!

YOu might try the bumper from i prestige mid, or try your luck by contacting

the seller on eb*y "discowilly", or some of the professional stringers on this board

That's Head's proprietary aerodynamic bumper/grommet, which, once installed in the frame and strung properly, reveals only a thin open slot where the strings are. I think C.A.P. is Head's acronym for "Computer Assisted Protection," or something similarly hokey. Their first racket with this feature was the 1986 TXP, the first of the "Pro" size (93 sq-in/600 cm2) Heads, IIRC.

If so, I don't like 'em. Too much bumper, not enough frame! They look bad imo.

i was looking for the same bumpers for my silver/green prestige 600 last year.

i've only found one place and they were over $30 each. you will find it very hard to replace your bumper with an original one.

ended up buying the i.prestige CAPS from TW for $4.99. they fit fine.
