so... TK 57(what) under the pallets?Further to my post above, I have just started to work on the lower SW rqt I received, and 1st job is to replace the grip with a leather grip.
I ordered L4 gripsize, and when I held them I thought they felt bigger than they should. I have L4 TK82 pallets on my Prestige 360+ MP with Head Tour leather grip, and they felt smaller then the PT2.0 L4's.
So I removed a grip and found this

I measure it as a 2mm gap. Considering they should be flush in their alignment, this is very poor QC. I'm not going to take the grip off the other one until I hear back from TWE. I will send them an email tomorrow.
so... TK 57(what) under the pallets?
I don't know as I've not removed the pallets. I'm keeping every as is so I can return it back to TWE for a refund, and I dont want them to refuse it on the grounds that I messed around with it.
OMG! Noobs!
You were crying for years that you want Head to bring back the classic racquets, and now that they did, you complain about a 2mm gap in a pallet! lol
You probably should focus more on your game.
If a gap in the pallet is that important to you, this means your game is perfect and the only thing you can improve is the equipment.
I could even play with a wooden racquet and complain less about it, than you guys do about about a very cool, and cheap racquet.
Wonder how many [emoji1360] or [emoji1361] I get for this message [emoji1]
Is afrom me.
1. I have not been crying out for Head to bring back this frame. Plenty of others have though.
2. A 2mm gap is a lack of quality control. No other Head frame I have checked has anything near this type of gap. Given how the specs are all over the place for this frame, having this issue is not a surprise.
3. I have not hit with this frame so I can't comment on whether I can or can't use this frame. I'm currently using the Prestige 360+MP and can focus on my game enough, so it shouldnt be too much of a step.
4. The gap is important as its a QC issue. You cant say that you've never bought anything that has failed QC, and been deemed faulty.
5. If you can beat me with a wooden racquet, then well done. I don't know your skill level and you don't know mine; but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and agree that you can beat me.
I was just saying that you are focusing on the wrong things.
If you don’t like how the racquet feels, I can understand that, but it’s definietely NOT because of a poor QC.
I mean, if the same issue would also be on the pallets of your preferate racquet, you wouldn’t even notice that.
I wasn’t implying that I would beat you with a wooden racquet, because I don’t know your level, but if you can feel a 2mm gap in the pallets, I assume you also played ATP, because I know players from tour that are less picky with their equipment, than you are with yours![]()
I dont know how it feels as I have yet to use it. Before I use it I want to set it up how I have my other racquets, and that means stringing with a string I know how it performs and with my favoured grip.
When any player, no matter their ability, changes racquet the best thing to do is to set it up with the same string/grip and if possible weighting (unless they are clearly moving away from something that doesnt work). This will allow the player to determine what if anything is feeling right. Change 1 thing at a time otherwise you may not know what isn't working.
I may try the PT2.0 with same grip/string and find it doesnt respond how I'd like. So then I changed what isn't working; which would likely be the string, and adjust either tension or a different string.
If the same thing re: pallets had occured on my prestige 360+ I'd be sending them back to Head as faulty. If someone wanted to use this racquet in its current form I would say its akin to an L5 not L4. I dont want to use a grip that big. Its not that I cant feel the gap, because I cant, its because its 1. bad QC, and 2. bigger size than it should be.
I've never played ATP; I only string for ATP/WTA/ITF Players. I also customise for those types of players so I know how picky they can be. When I customise a batch the player expects each one to be the same. Why should I not do the same level for my own sticks.
But this is not about feel or ability or pickiness. It's about QC that has failed.
And amazingly, some of the Head experts on here haven't answered my Q about whether this is an acceptable tolerance. Clearly the gap makes the grip bigger than it should be. But no-one is willing to concede that this is a QC issue, and not a slight on how well this racquet can play.

I can see a few potential causes, 1 the hairpin is too big which would be worst case, 2 the mold for the pallet has the tolerance issue and replacement is the solve, 3 the issue lies between: adhesive paper or other semi-permanent materials.
really the best case scenario is one or both somehow was molded to not have the proper depth which is a failure, the rest abject failure.
I understand.
It’s quite simple: set up the racquet with your preferred strings, and if the grip is too big, you can always install smaller pallets (a stringer/customizer always has pallets in stock), or simply send it back and buy a thinner one.
I hope Head will sell all the stock, and hopefully this will be just one of the first edition of re-issued racquets.
I would buy more iPrestiges and Radical Tour if they would make them exactly like they used to.
Didn’t wanted the A.A. Radical Tour Bumblebee re-issued edition, because I hate OS racquets, but I would definitely buy the MP.
I’d think the Pro Tour 2.0 would be easier on the shoulderLast question, I promise. I am a 4.5-5.0 serve and volleyer but have some shoulder issues. Would the pro tour 2.0 be easier on my shoulder than the old youtek prestige mp? I string all mine at 47 lbs.
If you think it is an QC issue send it back or talk to your trusted rep. As far as I know you are even a Tour stringer for the brand you are constantly criticizing now for this 1 mm pallet gap for the last couple of days (weeks?). It could be on some frames. I know someon else here in the UK who dealt with 4 frames and said there were no issues with pallet gaps. But as there seems to be specs all over the place, it doesn't mean that QC has been high on the frames.
Agree with all those points. The least likely is 3 unless someone has been over generous with the adhesive tape since one would need to use a lot to make a gap of 2mm.
If working with this frame, then I'd have to replace the current L4 pallet with L3, which I have. But as said before, it is a problem that I should not have to address myself.
I'm with you on iPrestiges; but I'll stay away from any Radicals. Thats just me though

Bit demanding, but really really solid racquet! Glad, I got two of these closely matched bad boys from Tennis Warehouse. I see people complaining about stiffness. But, for me, that's the best part about it.
Over time, following this forum, especially @vsbabolat, I have collected many classic Austria made Head Racquets. All these sticks are very nice, but PT2.0 takes the cake for me. Hits better than all these racquets. Hits closer to i.Prestige MP, but in a lighter, more manageable weight.

Guys do yourself a favor. Get one (preferably two, closely matched for $10 extra) before TW runs out of these sticks. They are not crazy expensive like Ultra Tours ($250) when they came out.
buy it. They are different feel. I actually like how both feel, however, the 360+ MP is plush and 2.0 is crisp. Both layups are well balancedI’m interested in buying a pro tour 2.0 but want to know how it compares to the new head 360+ Prestige mp. I’m not a fan of the feel of the new head 360+ Prestige mp so please reply if you’ve hit with both of these racquets. Thanks!
It also looks like there is something under the pallet that accidentally may have bunched up - tape, marking sheet...I can see a few potential causes, 1 the hairpin is too big which would be worst case, 2 the mold for the pallet has the tolerance issue and replacement is the solve, 3 the issue lies between: adhesive paper or other semi-permanent materials.
really the best case senario is one or both somehow was molded to not have the proper depth which is a failure, the rest abject failure.
If you go L3 then the other axis of the grip that isn’t currently the wrong size will be smaller than L4
Why? What’s wrong with Radical Tours?
Love all of them.
The original ProTour 630 wasn’t my kind of racquet, or maybe the string setup was a bad one.

You’ve got the early iPrestige (rubbery paint) one there. Did not do well. Later versions last much longerThey say it hits like the i.prestige, hope the paint lasts better

The paint holds up great! I just got back out there after messing up my knee a little bit. It was some heavy conditions that went right through my Gut mains. They say it hits like the i.prestige, hope the paint lasts better

I am send it back. I've already said that's what I'll do. Again, read my posts, 2mm. 1mm may have been acceptable. This is not.
Since I posted the original photos I have only answered what someone else has asked. If no-one had asked anything further on it, I would not have made any further comments.
Also, it has nothing to do with people at Head that I may know; plus I don't feel that I should try and pull strings to get a favourable outcome. This is not for them to sort of for me, whether as a favour or not. I don't do that for any brand that I may have an association with. It is down to the retailer to deal with it.
And yet you still didn't answer may question I original posed. Why is that? Can you not been seen as agreeing with a QC issue??
I’m enjoying it a lot!!!
Come on you dont think Head can deal with beeing criticised for something as minor as that? On the contrary i think it honours Skippy as he speeks up and gives criticism to a brand that hes affiliated with. We need more people like that everywhere...If @Howard H is correct and you are "a Tour stringer for the brand you are constantly criticizing" that's just a behavior that shouldn't be tolerated by the brand.
I don't tolerate such behavior in my field of activity, and I don't understand people that make their living or part of their income related to certain brand, and instead of sending the feedback via internal channels, take the stuff our to internet. That's like cutting the branch of the tree on which you are sitting, but you cut it between the tree and yourself, which is not very smart way of doing business.
I could find an excuse if every other manufacturer would have had few level higher QC.
But, Babolat and Wilson have their specs for frames at +7/-7 g, isn't it?
so what makes you believe that everything else is being manufactured within 99.99999999% accuracy?

If i would run a company i would hope that i could cope with criticism where criticism is due and true. If not you could always attemp to run a company like North Korea where everything is always wonderful! Of course theres a point with not making all criticism public but seriously if you cant even mention something like this its really bad....Do you think that for example "Apple" products are flawless?
Do you see many posts like that about their products? Ask yourself why
That is part of the brand polishing activities.
If you need more people like that, you should be ready to support them financially in real life, and be ready that they will post about your imperfections one sunny day.

Dunlop Hotmelts come to mind.Ugh.I took the paint off as it was fairly bad when I bought it. I don’t know if it was kept in a hot garage or what but it felt gross to touch.
I string it exactly the sameSince the PT2.0 is a bit stiffer than the original.
Would you string the same tension as the original, or would you adjust it by string it a kg more or so?
Thanks, was a little confused in the beginning myself till I learned this a few years back.Never realised rubber paint was so bad though. Also from what little I know, there is a third kind of release too, like mine. They have hard matt paint but don't say made in Austria on side whereas an old buddy of mine who has paint like mine, his racquets says made in Austria under Head on the sides. You don’t have the rubber paint. First year of the i.Prestige had the rubber paint. You have the very nice hard matte black paint.
The production went rubber paint, hard matte paint with made in Austria on the side and then hard matte paint without made in Austria on the side and a little sticker on the butt-cap with made in Austria. Very nice playing racquets.
Yes, that is exactly it.Any idea of production date for mine? Just curious. My stickers on butt cap are long gone but racquets have great paint quality still. They made those pretty robust I would say. lol, interesting question. What was the science behind those intelligence fibers?I wonder if there were more piezo-electric fibers in the i.prestige than graphene flakes in the modern line.
lol, interesting question. What was the science behind those intelligence fibers?
Thanks.Smelling a lot of marketing baloney here."What makes Intelligence Technology possible in racquets is HEAD's breakthrough intellifiber which is a new fiber created from piezoelectric material. HEAD's intellifiber transforms the mechanical energy from ball impact into an electrical response that stiffens the racquet for ultimate power."
Here is a video related to its use in skis
