Head Pro Tour 2.0 - Ask Us All Your Questions! (podcast now here!)

Agree with the sentiment. It’s the Prestige everyone has been clamoring for for years now. It plays pretty flexible, it’s plush, smooth... but it does have that little extra giddy up when you want to just rip one. It’s a very nice stick and for the price I don’t see anything better out there right now

HEAD has dug really deep to answer the call to improve upon the classics with the Pro Tour 2.0. I can't see there being much room for improvement above the 2.0 since it has everything for the prestige lover and then some. It will be interesting to see if HEAD will infuse spiralfibers and graphene into the 2.0 layup to create the Prestige of the century. I'm excited and can't wait to see what's next in the pipeline.

Yeah I think the 2.0 is a good example of mixing the old school with a modern twist, whereas it sounds like the newer prestige’s are a modern racquet with a classic twist if that makes sense. Needless to say, it’s not just “oldies who just push,” the racquet doesn’t make the player as they say.

So is the PT2.0 is still a limited edition release? I read a big-auction item that it is supposed to be a would wide release of 500 lol...

Very well said. The 2.0 is an enhanced classic racquet with a modern twist whereas the 360+ is a modern racquet with a classic twist. I like it!

Because its on other online retailers also.
Lol - I found out about that last week. I reckon I’d save a good few bucks if I went for this online retainer in the EU. They have a “bundle/multiple buy” deal.... but unfortunately they don’t offer matching services

Yes, and "i"-technology, and powerholes, and powerridges (or what were they called?). We could go full circle. Just kidding, partially.

maybe I missed it but Which grommet sets are currently available that will fit ? It is for a worn out PT280.

Heh. Listen to yourself. This is the kind of standard statement you get from head. I expected nothing more.
And what is the kind of standard statement that we get from Wilson?
90% of their players are using imitations of Prestiges (H19) and Radicals (H22) that not even once were sold and they just paint them to convince us that they’re all using Blades and Pro Staffs.

Was this not what the ultra tour was supposed to be ? I mean, it sucked.... but that is what it was touted as

The real H19 is something like mid 50's RA. The retail Ultra Tour was a different layup and stiffer. Same mould I am pretty sure though.

I really don’t see how H22 and H19 have to be dragged into the discussion in the first place. So are all ok with the fact Murray played thin air for all these good years ?!

I’m confused at your point here. I took the other guys comment to mean that they’ve never released a retail pro tour in a 16x19 pattern. I don’t think he was insinuating a 16x19 pt57a never existed (we obviously know it does). Am I way off here? Maybe I need to read further back in the thread.

You are completely disregarding what they actually said in the thread. The PT280/630 was never a 16x19, it was only released in 18x20, therefore wanting a 16x19 because Murray was using one isn't the same. It wouldn't be a release, just a completely new frame to the public. This is why people brought H22 / H19 into it, because like the PT57A 16x19 it was never a retail frame to start with.

I think they should release Barty's frame though because its just a 16x19 Gravity

I agree. I got blisters when I use the rectangle grip compared to the square one. I just bought the tk82s pallets so hopefully that will help

So you went from 5-6 hl to 6-7 ? That’s actually pretty cool. And there is not vibration or buzzing from the modified cut grommet?
Actually more like from 7 to 8,5 pt HL. I have not noticed any vibration or buzzing after trimming the grommets.

I agree that Ice Code is a great string. What gauge do you use? I had a hit this morning with the 17/1.25, strung in a Zebra 630 at 51 lbs. I must get round to ordering a couple of PT 2.0s from TWE, and a reel of Ice Code.
I used 18 gauge at 22/21 kg tension (at least for the clay season). I Don't want a thicker gauge in 18x20, unless it's natural gut.

If you look at the blade 98 users on ATP most of them are using H22. So many on tour right now to list. Former user including Novak Djokovic.
Don’t get me wrong blade 98 has been a decent racquet but it lacks the controllable power and comfort of H22.
these are playing with thin air too?

Can you read my post at all ? Or are you just used to multi quoting.
oh dude, hi! Hi @Alexh22
can you read my posts and give me the long awaited answer?
in case if you wondering which posts, I'll remind you: in which retail can I, as a mere mortal, just walk in and purchase H19 or H22.

Once you answer this question, a few months down the line it would be fair of you to demand that other posters in this thread read your posts.

They were dragged into the discussion because, just like the PT57A 16x19, the H22 and H19 never existed in the retail market, so a re-release of a racquet that never existed just doesn’t make any sense.

So how about those graphics at 3&9. I know complaining about the decals is pretty petty but I was curious if the majority of retail 630/280 models looked like this or what.

I think all 630/280 I've seen the red portion of the decal faded to transparent over the length instead of the abrupt end as it is on the 2.0 frame.

Just being sarcastic. I am fortunate enough to have MIA original trysis PT57a and wilson H22. It is criminal head and wilson don’t sell us those good sticks.

Yea didn't notice earlier, but the red decal on the inner hoop of PT 2.0 fades into a white background while the original fades transparent. Surely saved them all of 3 cents to do that :).

Also that red decal on the PT 2.0 is definitely placed higher up than from the original. Does that mean the intended factory sweet spot was moved higher up as well?

I doubt that that is the reason, but a stiffer head would probably move the sweet spot up a touch.

Because it would cost Head 3x to make them and only geeks like us on this forum would know they exist???
Ah, OK, great business model...

i got 2 from TW Europe. on one racket, there are tiny particles under the paint. like they forgot to clean out the debris before applying the final coat. also the black paint at the top starts from the 12th hole on one side and ends on the 13th hole on the other side. so it's a little lopsided. the other racket looks fine, 12th hole to 12th hole. i do understand the racket is being offered at lower price, but just doesn't leave a good impression on their quality control. haven't had a chance to take them out to court, due to extended lock-down in my area, but bouncing the ball gives off a solid, muted feel.

I would imagine the sales will be pretty good considering it's a racquet targeted at a niche group of tennis snobs like us. If the sales warrant more versions, here's what I would like:

-16x19
-no full caps
-if still full caps then lighter weight for more customization (leather).

As you can tell, I would like it to be more head light

Same. For a number of years, I am also after the 16 19 PT but the current price prohibits my acquisition. Very unlikely head will deliver despite the good sale figure of the 18 20 PT2.0. It is sad.

Whats the safest/most effective way to trim the CAP grommets? I need some way to take weight off without messing with the beautiful paint. Who here has done it?

So these fit the 2.0? And what is the handle shape like with these. wilsons? Easy to install? How? Sorry many questions
Searching on here or just googling it would be quicker than waiting for answers but... yes all tk82 and tk82s pallets you can buy will fit Head racquet hairpins. Tk82s shape more square (like Wilson) than rectangular tk82. Search YouTube for instructions on swapping pallets. Pretty easy.

Think I've found "the racquet." Honestly wasn't expecting the Head Protro (yes, that's what I'm calling the PT 2.0; it's a retro but IMO an improvement on the OG) to be so nice. Time to sell some of my racquets that I don't use much anymore (e.g. pristine Max 200g Pro) and pick up a few more of these amazing sticks.

Think the 2.0 is a top contender for racquet of the year and this is saying a lot. HEAD has had the strongest offerings this year and I am positive the Radical line will be exceptional.

Next to playing really well, a big reason I like the new PT is the absence of marketing racquet tech BS. It's just good 'ol graphite composite frame with none of that graphene 360+ spiralfiber nonsense on the paintjob.
