Head Radical MP & Speed Pro Customization recommendations

The club I coach at has gone exclusively with Head products, and so far none of the racquets feel “fantastic” off the shelf - wondering if anyone has found nice customization specs for either the Radical MP or the Speed Pro? Looking for solid stability and plowthrough, without the swingweight being unbearable.

For most radicals I find adding a little bit of weight at 3/9 (maybe 3g each) plus a decent amount of weight (tungsten putty) in the handle to make it more headlight has usually yielded pretty good results. Not as much experience with the speed.

Thanks for the info - I use a leather grip so that may replace tungsten putty a bit for tail weight- does the addition of weight at 3 and 9 make it a bit more stable on returns against bigger servers? I use a single handed backhand so there’s some issues with that haha!

Check out the prestige tour and prestige pro. Still a bit muted if you’re used to more classic style frames, but they don’t feel as tinny or flimsy as the current speeds and radicals.

I second that. Try the Prestige Tour. Or get signed by Babolat and get the 2014 Pure Strike 16x19

not sure ow big of serves you're talking about, but weight at 3/9 will ideally reduce fluttering of the racquet on off-center hits and will not increase SW as much if you added it to 12.

I have a girl that plays Radical Pros. I weighted hers to 312g and 31 cm balance and she loves it. All of hers came in massively under spec and at 304g at the heaviest so they were all easy to get where I wanted them. As the other poster said it helped to add weight at 3 and 9 to make the racket more stable.

Speeds are stiffer, almost as stiff as APD's, a hair stiffer than ProStaff.
Rads are more traditional flex, from 60-66, but most are around 62.
Which feel do you like?

Best thing is to lay them carefully on the ground behind your car or truck and back over them. Have to go back numerous yours to get to the good head frames. Yonex or Wilson is your best bet.
