Head Radical Trisys OS / Radical Tour 690 (bumblebee) - Which grommet will also fit ?

Hi,

as written in another thread - I´m searching for some replacement grommets for my good old Head Radical Trisys OS / Radical Tour 690 (bumblebee).

Get to know that the "i.radical / Ti. Radical" grommets will fit.

Is it possible to put the grommets for the Microgel Radical OS on the bumblebee?

Thanks in advance for an answer! :)

Greetings from Germany,

Rob.

in my experience the i.radical and ti radical grommets work best because they use the strip and bumper which is same as the trisys. the newer radicals use a straight bumper without a strip because it's once piece. not really sure if it'll fit, but its worth a shot. your best shot is definitely the i or ti grommets.

Not so fast about the "to-the eye" plug & play replacements. My experience is with the Trisys 260 -- the grommets in the sets mentioned are slightly thinner and cause a perceptible buzz in the racquet. For my sticks the real NOS are the only acceptable option.

@ all

Thanks for the answers! :)

Yes, I forgot that the Microgel grommets for the racket head are one piece and not two or three pieces like the "i.radical / Ti.Radical" ones.

Tried to get the original "TK 59" grommet set and wrote to several Internet Tennis Shops here in Germany, but there´s no chance to get it.

microgel goes bumblebee zebra TT OS

Hi,

did someone put the Microgel Radical OS grommets succesfully on the bumblebee / zebra / TT OS mold?

For sure the "i.radical / Ti. Radical" grommets are the best choice, but here in germany the microgel grommets are easier and cheaper to find.

Greetings,

Rob.

Sorry to digress off topic, but could you guys tell me a bit about the 690. I have an opportunity to get one, but though I'm a fan of frames such as the i. Prestige MP, Rad Tour TT XL and PT 280/630, I'm unsure about the larger head-size, and don't know how the Rad Trisys plays in comparison to the 3 mentioned other Head racquets.

Thanks

R.

Hi Ross!

If the price is good, I would take the Radical! :)

The Radical 690 has a tad more power than your listed rackets and a similar feel in comparison to the PT.

As often mentioned here - Radical and PT are both from the same material (Graphite + Twaron).

I played the i.prestige MP from a tennis buddy - In my mind the racket felt stiffer, harder to play and more uncomfortable than the Radical 690.

The Rad is way more forgiving and feels more stable.

Thanks for that Rob. Shall have to think about it. I always wanted the MP but could never get my hands on one... hmmm... now do I really want the 'big daddy'?!

The 260 OS is a sweet racket, when I am tired I use this one. It plays stable and flex. yes the I.PrestigeMp feels much stiffer if you play test these 2 rackets side by side.

Hi Ross,

no joke - last week there was a mint bumblebee Radical Tour 630 (MP) for 15 Euro (about 22 Dollar) on the "big auction site" here in Germany.

I´m a total fan of the OS, that´s why I didn´t buy it.

I would give the OS a try. It´s sweet playing, very forgiving, super stable, and in my opinion you can´t compare the oldschool, let me call it, "frame feeling" to newer rackets like the i.prestige MP.

It seems that they stiffen many rackets from year to year.:)

Rob: Someone just brough in a Head Microgel Radical OS to be strung up, and I compared it to the Head Radical tour 690, and although the grommets seem to all line up the same when you place one racquet on top of the other, on looking at the sides, it seems the grommet strips of the Microgel is a little wider (the dimension from one side to the other side), so it may not fit into the channel properly, even though the grommet holes line up. Just thought that you would like to know before you attempt to try out that one, as I think you would have a problem with the microgel set. Maybe another Head model may work, I'm not sure. I wish someone would put together a compatability chart on grommets, as to which other model would work with others.
