I have a new MG Head Prestige Pro. I bought it after several demo sessions and I really liked the demo racquet. It was factory strung with Head Sonic Pro 17 at mid tension. My pro shop carries only Wilson strings and some BB strings. So I had it strung first with Sensation 17, which I liked but broke in 45 minutes. Had good feel, but not as good as what I remembered the Sonic Pro to be. Next it was strung with NXT Tour 17, which supposedly is as close to gut as it gets. Its not bad, but does not have the feel of the Sensation and particularly the Sonic Pro. The demo racquet also had a nice ping sound on well hit shots that I really liked, but haven't heard with the Wilson strings. Is that ping more likely the racquet or the strings?
So, my question is, is the Sonic Pro just that good? or is it maybe just a particularly good match for this racquet? I'm puzzled, as Sonic Pro is indicated to be a polyester, and from what I've read, thats not supposed to be as good as multifilament feelwise. I originally posted under Racquets, and one person replied that Sonic Pro is the softest polyester. How would he know that?
And, is it possible that the racquet I bought is just not as sensitive as the one I demoed.
I also noticed a significant reduction in feel when I put an overgrip on.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
PS--I'm an old PSC 6.1 guy (white butt cap) and am trying to get back that laser like precision and feel that I had with those sticks for so many years.
