Head Special Edition Edge

I've got this cool Head Special Edition Edge racquet. I haven't hit with it because of the dismal grommet. Anyone have any info on this? On the side where Head normally lists the composition, it's blank. The headsize is definitely smaller than the 89.5 sq.in. Maybe an 81 sq.in. model. The stringing is also a little strange. This is the first time I've seen shared holes being used on a racquet. Anyone know if I can find a replacment grommet for this stick? One more thing interesting, when I shake the racquet, I can hear a good amount of sand inside the racquet. Almost like the Kenetic from Pro Kennex. I'll try to shake it out when I change out the grommet.

^ Yes - graphite Edges are 81.1 sq. in.

^ Not strange. Shared holes were very common with the first decade or so of graphite frames.

^ Very difficult.

^ Likely part of the original grommets. The old, dried out plastic grommets tend to turn to powder when they are touched. I would think that's what you're hearing.

It is about 81 sq. in., if it's the same one I have -- 81.1, to be exact. Doesn't yours have that information on the throat?

you might have to cut the current Head Radical 18x16 strip of grommets into individual pieces as replacement. You can also use nylon tubing to repair the broken grommets.

Thanks for the input you guys. I will try to dismantle the PS 95 or radical grommet to make it fit. No composition was listed on the throat, just totally blank on one side. Regarding the sound inside, it doesn't sound like loose grommet pieces in there. It sounds more like sand, like the kenetic or the shakers a wedding band would use. Does anyone know how it hits? I don't want to hit with it with the grommets in sad shape.

That rattle of sand you hear is broken down graphite. To get rid of it, open it up and blow out the loose graphite (yes you will have to remove all grommets and guards.

It may be great but you may not have long to play with it depending on how broken down that graphite is.

Hey guys, does anyone know which racquet this is 'special edition' to? Is it the Graphite Edge, or TXE?
As far as I know it's a Graphite Edge and there are e few other Austrian made frame from the same mold (81si).
