HEAD TGK AND TGT 231.3

No, no, then I got you wrong. I thought you mean the G on the black pro player sticker on the inside of the racquet fork.
The G in TGT and TGK stands for Graphite (Carbon). HEAD also makes TFK (Composite) and TAK (Aluminum) racquets for the lower price segments.
Ohhhh, okay. Man, I searched and searched to find that, but to no avail. Preciate it!

Hmmm confused but I just picked up 3 x tgt293.2 from a Swedish atp player. What should I expect? I think about 310g in weight. String recommendations? Thanks

It really depends on many factors:
Which racquet and strings did you use so far?
What are the specs of these Prestige MPs?
What are you looking for, rather power or control?
...

If the player you got the racquets from has an international HEAD contract, these racquets should have stickers on the inside of the racquet fork. With these codes it is possible to indentify the specs these racquets were customized to by HEAD. If there are no stickers he either removed them or has no international HEAD contract, but a national one. And then the racquets are "just" inline.

They’re on the way to me. Will ask you when I get ‘em. Thanks. And currently use puma supers and estusa powebeams which are the best but too heavy these days.....so looking for same flex control power but lighter.

Hello everyone,

I have a lot of doubts and questions I hope you can clarify.

recently I decided to purchase the youtekIG Prestige Mid, it came in L3 so I had To up the grip size to L4 when changing the pallets I realised that the code is TGK292.1 whereas on the internet I googled is TGT292.1

Before the IG I played with the youtek, I decided to purchase the 3rd youtek and I realised The throat of the racket has a paint showing made in China which my other 2 sticks does not have and it plays really differently.

the questions I have

1) Do all Youtek ig mid that you can get from the shops are TGK or some may be TGK and TGT?

2) Iv no idea what’s TGT and TGK is I’m sure they have a difference? Or no?

the worry I have is if it’s going to be like my Youtek, the 3rd stick really feels terrible.

Hope you can clarify
Thank you

Back in the day, head used "TGK" for both, retail and pro stock.
Since the mold and layup (and where produced) for both is identical, the TGK292.1 and TGT292.1 would be the same where the TGT292.1 is definitely the pro stock version (no commercial weights is the only difference)
Today, last X years, the TGK = retail frame, TGT = Pro stock version.
The PT versions are Austria layups, produced in Austria, painted in China.

@dr325i a few questions:
so are most pro stocks (except the PT113Bx) based off a past or present commercial HEAD racket?
But they can change the mold or layup or drill pattern right?
The main difference between retail and pro stock is no extra weights are added?
Thanks:)

The TGK (Retail) and TGT (Pro stock) codes are identical mold, layup, manufacturing site. The difference is commercial weights removed in the Pro stock / TGT.

The PT layups can go into ANY mold
The PT113Bx (discontinued mold and layup) was the PT layup (available B0, B1, B2 and C0, C1 layups) used in the TK113B/TK113C molds. Note that the TK113 mold was used before - iRadical MP. The layup is totally different.

For example, the PT57A2 layup goes into TK57A mold = PT57A engineering code
It goes to the TK339 (Speed) mold as PT339.2 layup/code
It goes into TK313 mold as the PT313.2
Into TK334 mold as the PT334.1
And so on…

I was wrong about some things in this thread that Howard corrected me...
I have learned a lot of great things from @Howard H since then :X3:
@dr325i , it's funny how so many "experts" can't admit when they're wrong, let alone do so publicly. They think it tarnishes their rep when, actually, it reinforces but one thing: their narcissism. I don't know you. But I now know one thing about you: you really are an expert because we all gain authority by learning from our mistakes. Good on ya'.

Really wanted to see what these "commercial weights" look like without having to take my racquets apart :). Anyone have any pictures?

Example of commercial weight in a Head racquet from this thread https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...slicing-tgt291-2-to-see-how-its-built.595723/

Oh wow cool thread.

BUT - if TGTs don't have the commercial weights, what would fill that void? Also, howcome the TGTs in said thread do have the weights there...?

I have a TGK231.3, Youtec paint. I was searching for another one, for a couple of years....found one, bought it, F series, Graphene PJ.
Grip was 4 so I stripped it down in order to change it to 3...and lo and behold a surprise....TGT231.2 TT, 16x19 string pattern....

Can someone help and explain?

Same thing. The TGK231.3 was the TGK231.2 layup (stiffer) with the 16x19 drill pattern.
The TGT231.2 is the layup that comes in 18x20 and 16x19
