1. Babolat - Aeropro Drive GT
2. Head - Head Youtek Radical MP
Wouldn't touch Wilson with a ten foot pole due to their horrid QC issues.

From my screen name you'd guess the Wilson, right? Used to be but now I switched to Head.

My faves are -

1) Head Microgel Radical MP
2) Wilson Pro Staff Tour Classic 6.6 Jim Courier - Circa 1994/5
3) Have no experience with Babolat racquets. I'm sure they are fine racquets but I can't say. I'd demo one one day though and then find out.

i switched from wilson to head. but heres my list
head- youtek speed mp 18x20
babolat- aeropro drive gt
wilson- either kblade tour or 98

All good stuff...

...I've hit with all 3 in the past few years. I've been with Head for a while, my current setup is Head Speed Lite, TechniFibre X-1 BiPhase 17, 62 lbs...

After demo'ing about 15 racquets over a 3 month period including many Wilsons, Dunlops and Babolats I chose the Head Youtek Speed MP 16x19. Love it! After that, I liked the Babolat Aero Storm and the Dunlop 4D 300 in that order. The Aero Storm and 4D 300 were a little too light weight. Surprisingly, I didn't really like any of the Wilsons.

Wilson far and away: PS85, KPS88, K90, if Wilson made it, I probably liked it.

Head: Haven't demo'd many of them, I liked the MG Prestige Mid, but it was too flexible.

Babolat: I don't much care for Babolat racquets, though I demo'd the Pure Drive Roddick Plus Cortex and it wasn't that bad. Most Babolat racquet heads are too large for my tastes though.

Semi-Pro
Head microgel MP
Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 Classic 16x18 or 18x20

The old wilsons to me are worth wayy more than any new racket but know they suck ( wilson )

I love Head :) haha I learned how to play with a Head Liquid Metal 2 and I took my game to the next level with Head Youtek Speed Pro.

I have used a lot of head raquets in this order:
1. Head Liquid Metal 2
2. Head Liquid Metal Instinct
3. Head Microgel Extreme Pro
4. Head Youtek Speed Pro

I have also tried Wilson K Blade's and Babolat Pure Drives but they all felt flimsy compared to any head stick ive hit with.

Wilson BLX 90's X2. Wilson K95 16X18 (2nd back up).

Head Speed MP would be second.

If I could hit first serves with it, I'd still be playing the Babolat APDC!

I don't like none of these, I am a Yonex/Volkl user.
I have play tested a few rackets and Wilson rackets are better than the others.
If you play with the Six One series you know they are better than what Head ad babolat offer. The new generation of rackets the 3 brands have are all hollow with the exception of Six One series.
Wilson has an awful QC, and so does Head(that doesn't even offer their player rackets to public) and Babolat but Wilson builds better player rackets.

Wilson is like synonymous with tennis, yet it seems more people in this thread prefer Bab.

I'd go with Bab, either apdc or pd.

Bab rackets look so exciting and youthful and unique. You can identify a bab from 3 courts away. I cant' say the same for old and dull looking wilson. Head starts to be attractive with the youtek stuffs.

This post is just screaming mid-life crisis :)

But really you would choose and suggest a racquet based on the cosmetics:?

If I were French I would call that a travesty!

Re mid-life crisis, perhaps you're right. After all, I'm almost 10 years Nadal's seniority. However, I personally find it contradicting and depressing to approach sport with an old geezer's mindset.

But really you would choose and suggest a racquet based on the cosmetics:?

In this case, yes, it's moot to base on quality or playability because all these manufacturers already have those qualities well beyond standard. Do tell, what would you suggest to base on?

As far as suggesting racquets goes; all you can really do is get a spec range that said person likes, and suggest some racquets in this spec range that you like for said person to demo and tell them to pick the racquet that has the FEEL and produced results in a wide range of situations and in as many sets, consecutively, as you intend to possibly play w said racquet, w out a let down due to fatigue.

I do agree that all the major companies make great racquets and quality is not an issue, but playability certainly is, to suggest that you can pick up any racquet, say one you think looks cool, and play as well w said racquet as any other, I have to disagree. This is a mistake that I have seen plenty of players(a younger self inc.) make and pay for it, either having to buy ANOTHER racquet or poor results and mental instability.

My position is obvious. Same racquet in my hands for over 15 years. Can still hang with all the big topspinners and ball-bashers at my club, so I have no reason to "upgrade" my technology. It has become an extension of my arm, my muscle memory and the PT are one.
