Help in search for my (Yonex) racket... (RDiS, Vcore Tour...)

Hello,

I'm getting back into tennis after a 12yr hiatus, and need a "modern" racket.

I'm 28, a 4.0-4.5 player; mainly a baseliner with a fast swing & heavy topspin, looking to keep improving and start playing competitively.

My main racket when I stopped playing (c. age 16) was a Fischer Pro Tour FT Midplus... obsolete at this point? Before that, I played with a Yonex 1700, which I loved, so I decided to go back to Yonex, as Fischer is not an option...

I've since purchased an RDiS 100 Mid online (used), because I wanted to experiment with a mid-sized racket. I've also purchased a used Vcore Tour 97 (should be arriving later this week!), as I've heard great things about it (especially that is is great with slice backhands, which is a favorite shot of mine).

Today, I played with a junk baller, and I was loving the accuracy and control I was getting with the RDiS 100. Just strung with Pro Hurricane Tour at 55lbs, I found it quite wonderful, and didn't mind the stiffness that others attribute to it. I was consistently hitting balls deep with pace, and putting winners right in the corners...

The real question is if I can still keep my wits about me with the mid-size head when playing against 4.5's hitting with pace... which is why I picked up the Tour 97.

I'll be hitting with a more solid player this Friday, so I'm going to give both rackets a go and see how they compare. The other question is... if I do decide that the mid-size works for me, should I also try out a Vcore Tour 89?

Any thoughts/comments welcome! Thanks...

Both the 89 and the 97 are great rackets. I have both. I think I play better with the 97 but you should demo the 89 for sure. The 89 is a great racket especially on serves. Good luck and enjoy!

Can't hurt to try, but if you like that crisp feeling and value control over power, then I think you found the right stick with the red 97 one. The newer orange versions are more flexible. You give up a tad bit of power for a tad more control. Personally, I prefer the newer ones, but if you are demoing, might as well try that too.
