Help Me Choose Which Yonex...

I'm trying to decide, both feel good playing...

Which one would you pick and why?

1. Yonex VCore Tour 97 (310g) or...
2. Yonex EZone Xi 98

Would you wait for a new Yonex to come out that's due?

What strings would you use on the one that you pick?

Thanks!

I would definitely wait on the new one since you may get a better deal on the older model. Of course, I'm not sure what is coming from Yonex, so I don't know if it will have any affect on the two you are considering. The VCORE 97 (310) is relatively recent, so I assume no update of it is around the corner.

How would you describe the differences or similarities between the Ezone and Vcore? I just demoed the Vcore and liked it a lot.

More easy power w/ the Ezone - feels a little like a Babolat. Better feel with the Vcore - reminds me of Wilson 6.1's.

I have switched from the RDS 003 to vcore tour 97 310
003, good, but a lack of control & too much power !
Vcore T97 310, best ever. So easy to use, manouverable, not at all tiring even after an afternoons tennis.
Just silky smooth, crisp strike & so gorgeous to look at.
Strings, factory 850 too tight for me. 2nd racket had yonex 125 tour yellow at 54lbs, much better.
Am about to order a 3rd racket with yonex 130 tour yellow at 52lbs
Will try the slightly thicker string & compare.
Plenty of power with less tension, overhall, recon I am sticking for good with this racket

Depending on how you play will make a difference in your decision. I have tried both and I prefer the Ezone Xi over the vcore. I use the Ezone 107 not the 98 but I found that the Ezone gave more pop to my shots. I use Babolat Pro Hurricane tour 17 gauge(51, 49) in one and my other racquet I am trying the Prince Monster 17g at 40lbs. I also found that you have to work more at generating pace with the Vcore as well as the feel wasn't quite there compared to the Xi. I love the Ezone 107 and will try the Xi 107 when the price drops with the new models coming out. Shame that they stopped producing the regular Ezone.

I would definately wait for the new Ezone Ai 98.
If what they presented about the new racket is true then it means that they corrected exactly what was a bit off with the Xi 98.
The head was a bit sluggish-seems there is a new tech that gives the Ai the fastest yonex swingspeed.
otherwise you would probably have to add some lead to the hoop

Vcore T97 is an excelent stick. Plays a bit different than the Xi98
Not as spin friendly as you would expect.
Both sticks are great. Actually they are better than most of the competition out there.

Once those racquets hit the shops I will take them for a swing, I'm looking forward to play with the new Ezone 100, though 97t is excellent as well, it's all about finding the right tension with the right string.

Second the recommendation to wait for the AI. Just wish they'd have kept the XI colors. Everything seems to be yellow these days.

They are both excellent racquets. I regularly use both. My wife plays with the xi98 , I use the 97t 310. I prefer the 97t because it lets me hit freely due to slightly less power, whereas with the xi98 I have to hold back a bit. Could probably change this with different strings. The same reason my wife likes the xi98, she is able to swing freely to hit the baseline. We both string our racquets with Wilson NXT tour 17 at 58/55. Having both had tennis elbow in the past, there are no issues with the above setup. So depending on how fast you can swing, would decide which racquet. As for the 107 talked about above. Two people at the club have them with different strings. Have tried them both but the balls land somewhere near the back fence. Maybe a good choice if you are not very strong?

I am a huge ezone 98 fan too, it has the touch and feel of a players stick but with a little tweener forgiveness. String mine with PTP 125 black at 54. This string seems to be made for this racquet, perfect blend of power and control. The string job drops to about 48 after an hour and then plays great for 12-15 hours then drops playability slowly. Great set up.
