Help me with my groundstrokes

I am having some trouble on my backhand in particular. Feel free to thrash me!

Estimated NTRP rating?

A few things on your backhand. First, understand that a 2hb is basically a left handed forehand. Your left hand is dominant and swings just like your right handed forehand. Your right hand is passive. Second, instead of letting your racquet flop down below your hands on the backswing (you don't do that on your forehand, do you?), you should hold the racquet head straight up (close to your head), with the face facing the side fence on the backswing and then let it drop below the ball on the forward swing, and snap it up and across the ball with a dominant left hand. Third, you need more upper body rotation, back and forth. On fh and bh, a grounstroke is mostly upper body rotation, not independent arm swing. You are trying to swing too much with your arms and not enough with upper body rotation.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the helpful advice! I will be trying to work on that.

I'm using the BLX Pro Staff 90.

And stop trolling Duy!!!

Every right to use what racquet you want, but you should consider matching your skill level with the racquet you use and I can tell you now; you aren't close to be ready to use that racquet.

First thing if you want to improve, get a lighter and larger head racquet.

Really?!? I used to use the LM prestige MP for a long time and I've been playing better with this racket. I demoed 11 other rackets using the TW demo program and I played the best with this one. I had very little control with lighter rackets like the radical, APD, and PD rackets. I admit I tended to frame alot in this video though. I was thinking of adding weight to the tip to help me hit through the ball with my backhand more.

I promise I'm not trolling you, but really... you shouldn't be using the racquet. And I'm saying this as an owner of the racquet. Use a larger head racquet which generates pace for you so that you can learn to groove your strokes easily. The PS90 requires you to create your own pace, has a very unforgiving sweet spot, and does not bode well for an uncontrolled swing tempo. It also is made for FLAT hitters, not loopy hitters.

I've been playing tennis for almost 3.5 years now. I'm a low 4.0. My racquet evolution went like this:

Prince Silver O3 Speedzone 118" - Played for one year
Prince O3 Hornet 110" - Played for one year
Wilson BLX 95 16x18 - Played for one year
Wilson Six One Pro Staff BLX 90 - My current stick

Every time I went to a new racquet, there was a very specific reason. And it was oriented towards a part of my game developing. My advice is to not use the PS90 at this level, but as others have said... it's completely your choice.
